I just got back from a week in Missouri visiting my wife's relatives.

Drove by the Ford Center in OKC (landed in OKC to visit a friend for a day and then drove to Missouri). Freeway runs right next to the arena and it's located downtown in the Brickyard area (baseball stadium and restaraunts and other entertainment nearby). What a nice looking (but modest) arena. They had banners of some of the players hanging outside.

Didn't get to go inside, unfortunately. How is it?

Oh, flew out of OKC on Friday evening and our plane taxi'd by the Hornets team plane. Camera was packed away or I would have gotten a shot of it. :D

Pretty neat, Warhawk.

Where did you go in Missouri?
We stayed in Springfield with her grandparents, but also went to Neosho for an early Thanksgiving dinner with relatives on Wednesday night. She's got lots of cousins and aunts/uncles in the area and we saw them all. Most have kids around our son's age as well, so he had friends to play with.

Our 3-year old guy really liked eating at the World's Largest McDonalds. ;)

Overall we had a great trip and our 3-year old is a pretty good traveller. We really had no problems, even with driving from Springfield to OKC, then a flight to Dallas and another to Sacramento all in one day. He's a trooper! :D

And if you ever get the chance to eat here, it's highly recommended for hearty eats and practice catching food thrown at you (well, rolls, anyways):

As soon as I opened the 1st link, I recognized the stop at Vinita on the Will Rogers Turnpike. LOL We used to turn south at Big Cabin exit off that turnpike.

p.s. I have eaten at that McDonalds. Years ago it was a different kind of restaurant...expensive (probably because at that time it was the only thing around).

Never been to the 2nd place.

Back on topic...

The Ford Center is a nice (but as you say, rather modest) arena. I have an aunt in OKC and she thinks it is fabulous.

The friends we visited in OKC have season(?) tickets to the Hornets, but there weren't any games while we were there that night, so I have no idea how it compares to ARCO inside.

OK, I found this:

and it has a panoramic photo of the inside, etc.

Looks a lot nicer than ARCO, and I think it was 100% publically funded, wasn't it?

It was totally publicly funding with a temporary 1 cent sales tax. It is owned by the city of Oklahoma City.
