It is about time they had their own thread. I keep mentioning them in the UOP thread. I decided that it was not fair to either team.

So, Illinois update:

The Fighting Illini (#1 in the nation) defeated the Nittany Lions of Penn State 83-63 tonight. Next game Saturday at Iowa.

Illini record:

26-0, Baby!!

Go, Illini!!!

Orange will krush them all!
Slim, where are those Yellow Jackets at again ?

I was hoping Penn State would give us a good game (to come within 25 points), but it was a 25 point game at the half time and they only came this close cause Freddy Nkembi and co. were on the court in the second half.

P.S. I believe I started the thread a long time ago when they destroyed Wake Forest, and I believe I predicted this sort of a season. They play like the Kings, except they play D and they don't go psycho in the last few minutes.
Coach Webber to the Kings!!!

Iowa played some of their best ball (props to them) to try and defeat the Fighting Illini, but they came up short. Illinois wins 75-65.

27-0...WOOHOO!!

this is absolutely crazy

they'll make it the final four but i don't know if they'll end up winning it all

i haven't REALLY watched college basketball since Mike Bibby left Arizona

Yep... just another victory. This team is clutch!!! They played basically most of 2nd half without Brown and Powell and they still came out victorious. Coach Webber's system is brilliant!!!

sloter, for verification...

Sacramento Kings player is Chris Webber.

I think Illini has Coach Weber.

Purdue tonight ... I hope they give us a good game (not like Northwestern, who were in the game during the first 2.5 seconds). We need some tougher competition before the Big Ten and NCAA tourneys.

Dee Brown has hit 6 three pointers in the 1ST HALF and has a season high 21 pts. Illini leads Purdue 47-26 with 20 sec left in the half.

Wahoooooooo!!

Dee Brown, who some think is the MVP of the Big 10, got the ball with 1.1 sec left in the half and hit his 7th 3 pointer of the half.

GO ILLINI!!!!!!

It is Senior night in Champaign, IL and the final home game for the seniors on the Fighting Illini squad. There are 5 seniors that have gone out of the game one at a time so they can get the cheers from the crowd.

The Fighting Illini is about to go 29-0, as they lead by well over 30 pts with 5 min, or so, left in the game. Final score: Illini 84 Purdue 50

Woohoo!!

29-0, Baby!!!

Hey, sloter, where are you. No one else cares here.

Sloter, where the heck are you? No one else cares about Illinois Basketball.

Okay, the Fighting Illini are playing Ohio State in their 30 game of the season. They hope to go 30-0.

The score is 18-6 Illinois in the 1st seven minutes of the ballgame.

GO ILLINI!!

Well, it was not meant to be. I have never seen so many missed shots in one game by an Illini squad. Ohio State defeats Illinois 65-64.

The good news......now Illinois can enter the tournament with the "it has been 29 years since a team won a championship while going undefeated" monkey off of it's back. They are still the best team in the nation. Of course, I am biased when I say that.

GO FIGHTING ILLINI!!

Nobody will top the last undefeated season of the greatest University around ...

I am glad to see them go DOWN! They were imposters! LOL j/k

By that logic, KU should have four times the chance of winning the championship :)

I'm sorry 6th, I actually missed today's game (and I'm really glad) but don't worry... I think this will make players play even harder, it's do or die now!!!

Hey, sloter, notice that it was mostly you and I in this thread until the Illini finally got beat. No one (except iheartbrad) said a word. Now, they are coming out of the woodwork. ;) :p

Ragging on another's team is directly proportional to the number of losses said team has had

R=kL

Hey, at least I always support UOP first. Then I comment on my team.

::6th is now expecting some support from the slug for Illini basketball::

Hey, hoodie,

Because I do not usually win when I bet, and smart money is on ILLINI, no way am I betting on them. ;) Hey, maybe I should place a small wager, each game, against them. Do you think that will help them win the championship?:p

hey hoodie, you think the Buckeyes have a chance this postseason ? ;)

6th, i much prefer this defeat right now than at any point during the postseason. it took a crazy comeback on an off night of Illinois. I'm really not worried ... that run was amazing!!!

Yes! That run was amazing and I loved it all the way. Okay, so we start another run now. How about a run of 30 consecutive games this time? It will not only win us a championship, but get us off to a good start next year. :p

If Dee and Deron come back (which is what all the experts are advising them to do, we should be fine next year as well). We'll need to fill in PF spot somehow, but hopefully the new recruiting class should be pretty good - do you know anything about that ?
