#FANS along with one Kings fan from StR was the only support for Council Member Jay Schenirer.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon I mentioned in relation to the LA Times story that there is a reason why #FANS continues to show our support at city council and town hall meetings. There is still a lot of education that must be done but most of all Mayor Kevin Johnson and the city council needs to have our support.
Without our support the rooms will be filled with nothing but opposition. It is our civic duty to do what is right for our city and what it deserves; a world class facility that will do so much for Sacramento that is #BiggerThanBasketball.
That is what I meant by it's not over yet.
Below are three videos taken from the town hall meeting. Finally, Council Member Jay Schenirer thanked us for attending and for always being there to show our support. I told him we will be there every step of the way.
Sacramento Council Member Jay Schenirer discussed why money from parking doesn't work for pools, etc. He also discussed voting, jobs, his reasons for voting yes, etc.
Opposition asked questions and were educated with facts and knowledge. That is our weapon of choice.
- Why public isn't voting on arena?
- Opposition thinks public paid for ARCO Arena.
- Opposition from group that tried to hand out fliers earlier got rude.
- Council Member Jay Schenirer brought up sewage/water and how no one asked for vote on that and yet more was spent on that than the arena.
"If you don't like the decision I make run for city council." - my new hero Council Member Jay Schenirer
- Union worker complained about not getting work. He looked to be against the arena but he will be more than happy to get a job building it.
Question was brought up on possible ballot measure for public to vote on arena in November.
