#FANS at City Hall 3-27-12

Another successful night for #FANS at Sacramento City Hall. We brought the power of education and facts with us.

The first of the CAVE Trolls (opposition) was so upset she cut her speech to just 30 seconds and she wasn't even going to discuss the arena to begin with.

The next CAVE Troll was also upset and his best reply to the council about us was not facts but rather "it's (arena) a stupid idea to begin with and it's not really going any where...stop spending money...it's getting stupid."

#FANS left the council chamber to hang out for a few minutes in the rotunda. We were approached by one member of the opposition and told us she respects us but wishes we would stop coming to city hall since the arena is a done deal. Basically she threw in the towel.

A gentleman talked to #FANS and thanked us for educating those inside city hall as education is a powerful tool. He then saw someone and asked that person to say hello to us. That person stood next to me, looked over at us and noticed our shirts since we had our jackets on. As soon as that person saw our shirts he left without ever saying a word. That person was Leonard Padilla.

Haha, good job Mike. Nice to hear about some of those interactions with the CAVE folk.

I tuned in last night right at the end of the guy saying just stop spending, it's stupid. Then I saw the FANS Crew filing out so I turned the channel.

We originally planned for April 3 but decided a week ago to attend last night. We kept it quiet and boom goes the dynamite. Got to love how upset they are and they cannot reply back with facts and that also goes for those outside the council chambers too that we ran into.

Again, great work Mike and all.

But you know, it actually would be good to have some more folks who were skeptical/opposed who actually were educated (like D Fong for instance)... a lot of these details still need to be ironed out, and people like that can help educate the public and also point out where things could be tightened up. I know I'm not motivated to do that... I'm pretty much on board no matter what.

#FANS showed up to Council Member Darrell Fong's town hall on Saturday, March 3. That was just a few days before the big vote on March 6.

The opposition was in full force that afternoon and you had to be there to witness how #FANS shut them down with facts. One member of #FANS would bring something up with facts and educated the entire room and would then ask the city manager if it was true what was said. The city manager raised the microphone to say, "That is correct."

#FANS representative then discussed another fact to prove the opposition was wrong on another one of their wild and crazy theories and the city manager was asked again if it was true what #FANS had just said. The city manager then replied with, "That is also correct."

This would go on with a few more topics from #FANS.

I wish I had it on video because kennadog was our superstar MVP that afternoon. She absolutely killed it. The opposition was silenced and we have the respect of the council and city manager. We spoke with both Fong and John Shirey before and after the town hall meeting.
