Events this year

So, what did everyone think of this year's Season Ticket Holder (STH) events? Were they better than in past years, to you?

Personally, I thought they went out of their way to get people together this year. I don't ever remember this many gatherings.

I was disappointed a little with the luau. I thought they could have done so much more with that one.

The STH event at ARCO for the away playoff game was just fantastic. Food was wonderful. Bringing the jumbotron to the floor for ease in watching the game was great.

I liked that they set up places for us to watch playoff away games together (Players and ???-that place near Sac State). The 2nd one, they even provided lots of desserts for us.

NOTE to those of you who do not have season tickets, but want to get in on the action: I believe you can be a partial season ticket holder and get invited to all the events. If you can't afford a full season plan, I know there are several others to choose from....just a thought. You can send a PM to my buddy, Worker Bee, and I am sure he'll be happy to tell you about the different plans.

My point is: We are the Champions! Don't miss out on the action next year as we defend our crown.

I thought they did a helluva job this year pampering the STHs (eh...enhancing our experience ) kudos to everybody working in the Season Ticket Services Dept. I share the setinment re: the luau, it was a great idea which had a great turnout despite the oppressive heat but it was a victim of scheduling. The M's had a quick turnaround for their next game and they didn't want the players out in that heat for too long. But for a while it seemed like they were doing something every week which I appreciated but it was a lotta stuff but it also served to give people a lot of opportunity to do get together and accomodate schedules etc.

During the playoff run I would have liked to have seen them NOT be so exclusive, although I do applaud the event they had in the arena - from all I've heard about that one it was a well done event. Sounds like the other events at local establishments were just as fun.

Definitely I remain a HUGE fan of the STH road trip - that over the years has by in large been the one thing I look forward to each year. And I swear the traveling fan party grows exponentially each year. This year's trip to Phoenix was awesome and the reception had a great energy to it. The Q&A's and feedback dinners/luncheons were very well done and extremely well attended. From what they said it sounded like they next year they are going to give the STH access to one open practice and I think they're raffling off a more exclusive practice experience. I also was intrigued with some of the other interactive one on ones with the players the STHs can win in their random drawing next year.

The one thing I loved and didn't realize how much I loved it until I was buying more seats later on was the fact that the STHs paid one price for their tickets throughout the playoff run. That was a huge benefit.

Absolutely, I echo 6th's sentiments, join the party for 2006!!

Luau sucked

The Mini events were nice...

The viewing parties...

But the Luau sucked. And frustrated me because that was one of 2 events that we as STH's get actual time with the players. The only one that I could attend. And maybe that is me but the only real reason for being a STH is that individual time with the players.

We talk amongst ourselves so we find out about viewing parties. Which it think is a great idea. Someone mentioned that those should be open to the public. Not sure one way or the other.

I have always contented that when folks such as STH make a commitment to the organization and should be given perks that the casual fan is not privy to.

I think the solution is tho create something like what Seattle and Phoenix have. And that is a Booster club. For those fan who want take fandom to the next level. A group that will talk directly with management and give them concrete Ideas that we as fans would like.

Apparently they really don't know if we don't tell them.

Personally I liked the August event we had in 2004. It was fun and informal, but most important, we got to spend time with the players.

I am glad they got on track and set up viewing parties, and I was very pleased with the Coach Talk thing they did with Monique Ambers.

Four years ago, the M's hosted a forum for all STH's (and those of us who weren't but managed to talk our way into it anyway, heh) at the arena. The president of the organization was there along with some other top staff members, and they spent about two hours listening to all compliments, grievances, and ideas that we fans presented, and then they gave feedback on each one. Food and drink were provided, and it was a really great event. The staff couldn't of been nicer and they even approached people and didn't just sit there waiting to be approached. I think the organization should have one of these every year just to make sure that they are on the same page with their fans and keeping everyone happy.

The last STH roundtable I attended was in 2003 maybe and was invited to one but wasn't going to be in town when they held them the year before...so if they had one last year it seems as though they are still doing them annually.

I'm all about the STHs getting additional perks, but some stuff like the party at William Land Park for the entire community lets everybody embrace the team because quite frankly they should have more people putting their butts a seat. And getting them out in the community helps with that. I'm not sure if its because they dont have the car dealership or the supermarket chain as corporate sponsors, but they haven't been as out in the community as they used to be years ago. I think their state fair appearances were it. I hope that changes too. That's why I was a proponent of them organizing something (like they did for the Olympic Gold Medal game last year) during the playoffs where everybody in the community was invited. In the case of the Olympic game thing at the Riverside Clubhouse, that place was packed even before the event officially started at 6am. People who were STHs come anyway to this stuff and folks who aren't come felt like they should be there because it was a local athlete playing in a gold medal game. Not sure they were as amped up as STHs were that the Monarchs players were wandering around the restaurant too. There to me are just some special moments in a season when the front office should be saying, this is an important product to us, and if you haven't been here all season, here's a way to get involved and if you aren't here for this you are missing something. Events with the STHs should be a step above that regular interaction you get at community events, which is why I've liked what they've done with the road trip. They add one more similar "mixer" type event in town for the STHs, then whatever q&as and chalk talks they want to add to that, plus whatever other non-player related perks they want to add to that, I'm very cool with it.

I definitely am not a fan of segregating the STHs, which was why I didn't like that they weren't inviting everybody to that first playoff gathering. If they wanted to give away some memorabilia like they usually do if you pay all at once to those who returned their forms on time, that's one thing. But there should never be a reason to treat (in all senses of that word) one group of Monarchs STHs exclusive to others. As open to feedback as this front office has been under Leighton's watch I don't think they need to create booster clubs or special forums.

Don't know if anyone else has been experiencing this, but as I was out this past weekend around town wearing Monarchs gear, I had people asking me "where you THERE!!!?" or otherwise talking about how happy they were that the M's did what they did or how they watched it for the first time on TV. People who weren't there last week really felt like they missed something. Very good time to capitalize on that.

A week ago tomorrow, I heard many comments about the M's winning at work, and I also got asked the "where you there?" questions as well. What a great feeling all that was! Now I just have to get around to buying all their championship gear...

I am with you on the M's opening up more to the community, MBF. Like you said, they've got to market, market, market the team!
