There is a Stage 2 alert. This means people who have voluntarily agreed to having their power reduced during severe demand times will be under periodic black outs.

If it goes to Stage 3, rolling black outs could occur to protect the power grid. From what I understand, however, this will not effect SMUD customers in Sacramento unless things get really critical as SMUD operates independently of the state power grid.

You know, I actually thought about it... for about .5 seconds. And then, I turned off my clock radio in my bedroom. I reduced my energy consumption.

I believe that they just want people to not run their ac's as much, correct? That's their main power complaint. I've had mine running for a few days now (just until the night), even when I'm not there, because of my cats. But maybe tomorrow I'll just shut all the blinds, crank the ceiling fan, and leave lots of cold water out for them.
