Don Nelson to coach Warriors

I think Brick has a valid point here. The Kings are IMHO realistically a 6-10th place team, depending on how the pieces fit. If the Warriors are as someone mentioned a 8-10th place team, they both could conceivably be fighting for the same last spot. Those couple extra wins that Nelson might be able to squeaze out could hurt.

I mentioned the Warriors as a good chance to be in, and probably will be in the fight for the last playoff spot. However, I wouldn't bet on them to actually win that battle. :p

I really doubt the Kings will be in that usual 8-10 scrap for the last playoff spot.

Monty got 34 wins for them both seasons, so, in that case 36 wins? ;)

Nellie will win atleast 40 games with them but not enough to lead them to the Playoffs. NO ONE should be worried.

with the players the warriors have i think don nelson and he's system will fit well this coming season...

nice move

Good move I think. Nellie is a players coach, but he also has the credibilty and rep to deal with Davis and espicially J-Rich should he need to(Monty did not). We'll see a lot of pick and rolls and Iso's for Baron and J-rich, and Troy Murphy should flourish as well(Nellie loves big men with an outside game), I also think he can play to Dunleavy's strengths, namely offensive IQ and passing ability. Either way it's going to heat up the Nor cal rivalry even more this year... E-Muss vs. Nellie, should be interesting.

Not a good move if you have championship aspirations, but a good move simply because it ends the Montgomery era...back to the college ranks, Mike...

"New coach Don Nelson will bring Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Larry Reilly with him to the Warriors bench, according to sources with both teams. Warriors officials declined comment."

"Reilly has spent the past four years as an assistant coach with the Dallas. His contract has expired, but the Mavericks source said he was welcomed to re-sign with Dallas if he so chooses. He will fill the vacancy left by John MacLeod, who left the Warriors after one season."

"Many expected (Mario) Elie -- pegged by some to be the next Avery Johnson, an overachieving former player with a winning pedigree and the respect of today's players -- to be Montgomery's successor. But Nelson's hiring clouds Elie's status with the team, especially considering the two had a contentious relationship when Elie played for Nelson as a Warrior."

Interesting, indeed. I hope Elie does pick up a head coaching spot somewhere down the line. Fom what I've gathered, I like his potential as a coach.
