:::Warning, a rant is a-comin:::

In the midst of a six game losing streak, the Giants have made a trade to aquire some bullpen help for the strech run.

Sound like a good idea?

Well, it is if...

1: The pitcher you aquire is actually good.
2: The prospect you give up is actually worth it.
3: If you actually mave a shot at the playoffs.
4: If the new guy is better than who he replaces on the 25 man roster.

But Sabean decides to add yet another near-senior citizen in 40 year old Mike Stanton...Thats just great.

Who did he give up for Mike Stanton?

Shairon Martis...That doesn't impress you? Well, how about this.

Shairon Martis, the 19 year old kid, who threw a no-hitter in the WBC...That a little better?

And to make room on the 40 man roster, we designated 24-year old Alfredo Simon for assignment.

So in essence, we give up 19 year old Shairon Martis, and 24 year-old Alfredo Simon for 40 year old Mike Stanton...Two potential eventuall contributors for someone who will be around for 2 months then probably go home to his nursing center somewhere in the heart of Florida.

Not only that, but Mike Stanton, he of the 4.5 ERA and 1.5 WHIP, replaced Jonathan Sanchez, 1.3 ERA and 1.3 WHIP, on the 25 man roster.

But Jonathan Sanchez and his tender young age of 23 wasn't doing anything towards Sabeans aparent goal of having a team who's average age is 42.

And now I find myself rooting for Sabean to do something so incredibally stupid he can't help but be fired.

Something like.

Brian Wilson/Merkin Valdez/Kevin Correia for 40 year old Roberto Hernandez...

Ugh.

Sabean, it is time to go!

Okay...

The Giants are on a seven game losing streak.

They can't hit to save our lives.

Their average age is about 47.

The closer is terrible.

And the only move we made is to get Mike Stanton?!

Im done.

This is ridiculous.

Sabean needs to go.

There's still hope (next year)!!! Soriano didn't get shipped off. Now the Giants just have to let Bonds and Durham walk in the winter, and offer that freed up money (and a second base position) to Soriano. Simple, really.

Can anybody honestly say they are shocked by this season?! Im certainly not. The writing on the wall was there when they reported to camp. Half the guys using walkers and canes kind of gave it away:p
