95% of the time Cuz is going to have to be the best player on the court for us to win games. When he plays bad we are going to struggle just as we have in our 4 losses. Yeah their will be games in which tyreke or MT go off but for the most part this team is going to go as Demarcus goes. That's been pretty evident through the first 6 games. Yes we need to shoot better and yes keith smart needs to stop killing us in the 2nd and 4th quarters with his rotations ( dmc or reke needs to be on the floor at all times) but we are not going to win Alot of games when cousins struggles. Over 20 and 10 and shooting the ball over 50%.

Well he can't leave him out there if he's in foul trouble it's simple as that.

And Smart can't shoot the ball for him either.

He can put him in better positions though, which would definitely improve things instantly.

Keith Smart isn't picking up the fouls.

So thats one thing he can't be blamed for, though I'm sure someone will find a way to do it.

No one is delighted with his rotations but I'd be even more miffed with him having cuz running around with 4 fouls in the second.

even in the games where cuz wasnt in foul trouble he never played over 32 minutes. which is insane, especially against a Warriors team that he was abusing down low

I agree. Cousins has his problems but he just needs to play....especially in front of the other bigs on this team.

I was watching the Spurs Blazers game, and I wondered whether we should use Cousins more like Aldridge. Get him spotting up for open outside shots. He doesn't quite have the same ability to shoot turnaround jumpers, but has more quickness and ballhandling ability from the perimeter. Another thing I picked up from watching the Spurs: guys set screens once they pass the ball. You rarely see a big handing the ball off to a guard and just standing there, or even guard to guard. It's always hand the ball off, set a screen for the man with the ball. Also, the bigs swing the ball a lot more and much faster than our bigs do. I realise that the outside shooting ability of the perimeter players plays a part in this, but still, we mustn't pin the lack of ball movement on our team solely on the guards. With proper spacing it's usually the bigs that are the ones who initiate the ball movement when they are doubled inside. Doesn't happen on the Kings.

Because Cousins is so valuable to the Kings, I think you have to take some risk when he gets in foul trouble. Better to risk losing him to fouls, than let him sit for long periods. He is making progress mentally in the way he reacts to officiating. He has a competitive streak that exists at a very high level. You cannot teach that. I enjoy watching him play. His vertical game is challenged somewhat, but I would like to see him jam more when near the basket.
