Kings corner: Loss to Lakers leaves many questions
Diary with Corliss Williamson
Published 2:15 am PST Sunday, March 26, 2006

There is no way in the world we should have started that Lakers game the way we did, knowing what we were competing for. Just how we came out all flat, no intensity, and I don't know how many dunks we gave up before the first timeout.

Come on, when you know what kind of atmosphere is going to be at their place and what we're fighting for - not to say we didn't fight and try and come back and try to win - but you can't dig yourself that type of hole.

Mentally, we weren't really there at times. We had certain defensive assignments and adjustments that didn't carry over to the court.

The only way to erase that loss is to go out and win games. We have a number of games coming up against teams that have something to play for. So these are crucial games for us, not only to win but to start playing well.

In the NCAAs, I like UConn, but if I had a dark horse, it would be LSU. I like (Glen) "Big Baby" (Davis). He kind of reminds me of somebody, although he wasn't quite that big.

Corliss Williamson's diary is the property of The Sacramento Bee.

like it was that hard to miss......

???? And your point is?

Most sports commentaries contain information that may be known or felt by a majority of fans. It's seeing someone like Corliss, who's in the trenches, confirming it that makes it more interesting.

I personally LIKE the idea of Corliss putting stuff like this out there, warts and wrinkles and the plain truth without pointing fingers at any individual players.

i was just saying that corliss was pointing out something so obvious that it wasnt worth mentioning.... i mean really.... the kings played with no intensity? really? i would have never guessed....

Me too! This was one of those games where is just looked like the effort and intensity was missing. But for us, as fans to say that is one thing, because we're on the outside looking in. But to have Corliss come out & admit it, and to say that it shouldn't have happened in a game that big, was refreshing. Much better than the spin we usually get in the player interviews after a game like that.

One could extend that argument to say that your comment itself was so obvious... etc. ;)

The difference is that Corliss is wearing the uniform of the Sacramento Kings. He's making comments that are truthful and that I think need to be said solely because they are obvious to everyone else that it's good to know the team isn't just shrugging stuff like that off.
