CONTROVERSIAL buzzer beater lifts Kings...

The headliner on ESPN. Does anyone remember if the Phoenix or Dallas win had a similar headline? Is it me or Im beginning to think that ESPN doesn't like us. "Controversial block lifts Phoenix"...riiiiiight :\ I guess a barely tipped ball that only replay can show it was touched is a noise maker, while a BS in the cylinder-block is not. Come on. Am I going nuts here? :\

I like the one on ESPN that accused the Kings of having a "hissy fit" after the Phoenix game.

I observed the same thing. I tuned into ESPN this morning to show my wife Bibby's magic shot. I have as many conspiracy theories as Mel Gibson saw the movie of the same name.

everyone in the media(espn) said that the phoneix game was a good block. i think i remember most people even the nba office saying they blew the goaltending call against dallas. but either way, espn doesn't like us and that hasn't been any secret.

Yaaaa, that was it hehe, thanks for reminding me. These morons don't give us credit for much. Probably all Chucky homers. :\ I wonder what it would have been if House scored that 3. "Prayer shot by Kings bench player who got 5 minutes pulls Kings over the hump against undermanned Memphis". *sigh*

Fratello was throwing an obvious "sore loser" fit that took up about half the article, and nothing was said about "hissy fit" there. Jeez, maybe we ought to dig a big hole and put the city of Sacramento in it and the Webberless "dead" Kings team with it. :\

vent...exactly

i think, obviously, both of the block calls were crap, and the first should have been reviewable. truthfully, what i think would be ironic is if they had not been allowed to review that block so didnt call it as it should have been and then have them go back to review the Bibby shot last night and change the call because of the tip by Posey. It would hav sucked, no doubt, but ironic as well.

anyway, nice shot Bibby. I was practically feeling like we lost cause there was no way we would have won in OT, but Bibby put up a shot and prayed for a miracle, and, as the Sacbee sports section said, thankfully the bank was open.

yep, and this has been going on since the Lakers were competing against us in the playoffs, throwing hissy fits losing against the Lakers, hissy fits at Shaq stepping into the key during FTs, etc. The media is treating the Kings like wounded animals, who throw hissy fits and are frustrated that the window of opportunity has closed since the departure of Mr Defense Christie, and Mr Franchise Webber, and the behemoth that is San Antonio, who aren't much without Duncan, and the amazing teams that are Phoenix and Seattle. The grass isn't always greener in Sac I guess.

The funny thing is there were some strange calls that went memphis way last night, and you did not here them talking about those. for example the mysterious goaltending call when the ball was a foot away from the basket.

I was happy to see the shot go in because you could tell they were not going to call a foul on memphis at all in the 4th. I know peja got fouled at least twice.

It's not just you.

I had that same thought today. People painted the Kings as a bunch on "whiners" for complaining about both calls against Phoenix and Dallas and yet it's "controversy" on this one.

Oh well, a win is a win and that's how I'll leave it.

Kings called whiners while Mike Fratello is called the Czar of the telestrator....oh well, who cares what they think. It gives this team that underdog sort of mantality.

Did you see Miller's face after the first blown goaltending? That is why the Kings were called whiners... he has the whiniest complaint face I've ever seen. :)

Everybody needs some one to hate or call names and disrespect and ESPN picked us. It's probably going to be like that until we win a championship. It's ok to vent but I thought maybe we'd all be used to it by now.

If Fratello wants to have the play reviewed, he'll have to take the delay of game call where Posey's arms were out of bounds when Peja was trying to inbound the ball. A delay of game is typically called in a situation where any part of the defender's body is too close the player inounding the ball. The replay clearly shows his arm above the ball and Peja's head a good 1.5 - 2 feet over the line. I believe that would have been their 2nd delay of game call resulting in a technical. At the very least if it was a warning, Posey would have had to back away from Peja even further making his deflection unlikely. We won't even go into the fact that at least 2 seconds should have been on the clock anyway because Mo Evans is signaling for a timeout at 2.5 seconds left and Skinner had possession of the rebound. Time left on a game clock can be reviewed on replay unlike Fratello's wish that only tipped balls should be reviewed. Like Adelman said after the game last night, when you want to start reviewing every possible play call during a replay, you're opening up a Pandora's Box of uncalled infractions on every single play.
