Pres. Bush is making a direct attack on the Constitution, Article II Section 3, "he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed."

He is now claiming that he doesn't have to obey Congress, even a Congress controlled by his own party.

Remember all that "checks and balances" stuff from high school. Gone.

Bush says he can edit security reports

WASHINGTON - President Bush, again defying Congress, says he has the power to edit the Homeland Security Department's reports about whether it obeys privacy rules while handling background checks, ID cards and watchlists.

In the law Bush signed Wednesday, Congress stated no one but the privacy officer could alter, delay or prohibit the mandatory annual report on Homeland Security department activities that affect privacy, including complaints.

There is a name for the type of government which Bush is trying to install, one in which the leader doesn't have to follow or enforce any laws that he doesn't like...

We're not there yet, but we're steadily slipping down the slope...
