What a fight. Hang on Monarchs. Way to keep coming back.

Nicole answers a Douglas 3 with a 3 of her own. That was HUGE!!! 1:11 left in game. M's up by about 7.

BTW - Chelsea got mowed over...AGAIN...early in the 2nd half. She has been out with what sounds like a wrist injury.

BTW - Yo scored a total of 1,033 pts in her time in the ABL. Count that and she sits at 4,988 total career points in her U.S. professional career. Yo is da bomb in my book. Nobody better. :)

Good point 6th...she should be able to use those points!
I have to agree ''YO'' is the Bomb:cool: Shes awesome & so are our Monarchs,
going back to the big show. Huge win & I guess that pep talk from Yo helped to light a competitive fire, they fought hard & won!

CONRATS MONARCHS!

Congratulations Monarchs on your clinch! More work left to be done, but thank you for taking care of the business at hand. Congratulations too to us out here in fandom. What a regular season its been huh? They've made us work HARD to keep the faith. :)

I hope Chelsea is ok....(as I overstate the obvious) we need her, and quite frankly all the bodies we can get. Great job hanging on, I felt a deja vu moment (several of them) near the end of the game. String some wins together, now is a very good time to go on a run and stop playing .500 ball!

I have Yo needing one less point than you have 6th. I may go back and try to spreadsheet Yo's numbers. I swear every time I've looked at her career pts for the season according to the *****!!!website this season, it's been off kilter and the numbers seem to change in a not so logical way. I mean seriously, I used the website numbers through 24 games of the season and coming into the day they had her through 26 games needing 63pts? Anywho, Warrior Yo is on a double figure kick so it soon will not matter what the stupid website says, we will celebrate this very soon.

Congratulations again! Now let's work to get the seed we want!

I wasn't able to listen to the game, and it was barely mentioned during the sports segment of the local 11:00 p.m. news (due to Barry Bonds' 756th home run), but anyway, it's great to know of the Monarchs win. And more importantly, the clinching of a playoff spot! They should've won the Sunday game against the Indy Fever, but then, I suppose that's why Yo delivered her "speech" (or "rant", if you will) to her teammates. And perhaps whatever it was Yo said, definitely worked tonight!

I'm still not quite satisfied with the way the team is playing yet, though. But a win is still a win.

And now, let's win against the Silver Stars on Thursday! :)

Here's the recap from the WNBA website:

Go, Monarchs!!! :)

The SacBee blog updated with Chelsea's status.

Newton listed as day-to-day

Monarchs guard Chelsea Newton is listed as day-to-day after suffering a contusion on her left wrist during Tuesday's 81-79 win over Connecticut.

Team officials say X-rays came back negative and Newton will play as long as the pain doesn't become too bothersome.

Newton took a hard foul from Asjha Jones early in the third quarter of Tuesday's win as they batteld for a rebound, according to media reports.

Newton and Jones fell to the ground, with Newton keeled over in pain holding her left wrist. She did not return to the game, but was expected to practice today in San Antonio.
Excellent news! Now if we can just keep Chelsea off the floor...

So no one took any pictures of Katie Douglas' husband getting ejected?

Hey, they took pictures of Diana Taurasi getting ejected, why not him? :p
Katie's husband (Vasilis Giapalakis) happens to be a sports agent, one of the lowest forms of life in the sporting world. His type does not deserve more attention than he gets already. :p

I heard he tried to lean over the scorers table or press row to give the officials a ear full. I would have liked to see that as well:)
Don't think we better get out of hand sittin courtside, wouldn't want to miss any Monarch basketball!
Wonder if he will be allowed back to the arena?
