Ha! You know, not to hijack the thread or anything, but I definitely liked it better in the old days of college football. You had the writers poll and the coaches poll... and that was it. The Big 10 champ played the Pac 10 champ in the Rose Bowl - sometimes it mattered and sometimes it didn't, and that was it. And you could argue all year and through the offseason about who was the best team. That is how it is for a sport without a genuine tournament or playoff and it was fine for college football. Of course, to veer back on topic... in my opinion a sport like NBA or NCAA basketball with a tournament or playoff fairly crowns the "best team" without dispute from reasonable people.
I hate the BCS so much I think it is an abomination. It does not settle anything.. the third best team in the BCS can always argue what might have been. The BCS is absolutely stupid.
