MUCH BETTER EFFORT TONIGHT!!!:):)

And not because we got the win. More because of the energy, effort both on the court AND in the stands. Key stat of the night Chicago 17 turnovers, MONARCHS 9!!!!! Although Chicago shot over 50 percent, the defensive effort CREATING turnovers, was key 3 steals each for Brunson, Newton and Ticha.

Where I felt the game turned was in the third quarter and one of the starters gave up a lay up, and Coach Jenny calls time out and just blast the team on the side line. It looked like her and Kara were having some heated words. She replaced all the starters and went with a line up of Harper, Franklin, Robinson, Kelly and I believe Newton. That unit went on like a 13-2 run to push the lead out, and the rest was history. One of the few times this season the young vets and rookies went out and just took control of a game.

Some individual shout outs:

Ticha - What can you say the Team MVP right now. She shot a jump shot from the free throw line and threw a Wesley Snipes White Man Can't Jump pose:eek:. Did anybody else see that?

Aqua - During that run in the third, she pushed the ball real hard, and played solid defense.

Adrian Strong - Much maligned on this board and rightfully so. But she was sold tonight. Double figure scoring and limited turns. Still should be replaced, but saved her job at least for one night.

Scholanda - Great energy off the bench. Offensively aggressive, defensively aggressive. I thought set the tone for a balanced scoring night by scoring three quick buckets in the first.

C. Kelly - She is not afraid of contact. Gets to the line with great frequency. THE MONARCH OF THE NIGHT!!!

Last Random thoughts - I like Candice Dupree. She should be an olympian. Smooth, poised and very skilled. Jia Perkins loves Arco Arena. 22 big points and was a serious threat in the fourth quarter. Did anybody notice how much Price was using that off arm?

What a surprise that we scored 82 pts yet our high scorer had only 13 pts. Talk about a balanced attack.

My favorite part of the game: Monarchs energy, especially from the bench. Glad Nikki finally got into the game (even if it was late). She played some nice D though and got a few boards.

After the players only meeting the other night, I was not surprised to see the team leader come through. Ticha had 10 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals.

Surprisingly, Brunson was our weakest link amongst starters. Considering how she's been playing lately, I figure she deserved a night off.
