Hey, everyone, Christmas will be here before you know it. I thought I'd start this thread for people who have loved ones on deployment.

If you have a loved one on deployment with our military, please post a list of things they could use here. Then, If any of our members here want to send a care package, they can PM you for the address. I'll get things started.

My nephew is in the desert in Afghanistan. He and his friends share their care packages. This is their list.

Kleenex, wet wipes, sunscreen (30spf or 50), powdered gatorade singles (that you put in a bottle of water), snacks, cereal - variety boxes of single serving- healthy- not sugary, cd's, dvd's, books- he likes the Tom Clancy OP Center and Net Force series (we're sending "Springboard" & "The Archimedes Effect"), magazines (we're sending Sports Illustrated double issue July 13 - 20th), razors - mach 3 & blades

Wonderful idea, 6th! My son-in-law is also in Afghanistan. What he wants most we can't send (I don't think Starbucks Frappucino ships well), and I have no idea what he really wants or needs.

During the Gulf war, lots of people mailed Christmas cards to the Gulf for any service person. Due to the threat of terrorist mailings, this is no longer permitted. I'm attaching a link to an article through which you can send a care package through the USO.

The winters can be bitterly cold there, so even something as simple as warm socks and hot cocoa mix would be welcome.

And don't forget the servicewomen too!!

Just a note of clarification. We would not be giving people our own addresses. We would give a name and military address of our loved one so people can send care packages directly to the service member and their unit.

This was in case someone wanted to send a package to a relative of someone they know (or sorta know), as opposed to sending a general package thru an organization. That way you wouldn't know who gets it.
