Basically, what Russell was talking about was his experience working for Red Auerbach on the Boston Celtics. He told the story of how Auerbach turned down a trade offer of Lenny Wilkens for Larry Siegfried because he - Auerbach - felt a better player didn't always make a team better. Players had to fit and if they didn't, the team wouldn't be successful.
