Bee: Webber will play a role in Sacramento's arena fight

#2
I read somewhere that keeping the Kings in Sacramento is an incredibly personal goal for Webber. We all know that Webb needs to be loved and accepted. He has made his mark in two cities- Ann Arbor and Sacramento. He truly wanted to be adored and remembered in Michigan, and they want nothing to do with him, based on what happened there.

This actually works to Sacramento's benefit. Webber has one shot left to be a true icon in a geographic area. He loves Sac, and he fully understands that if the Kings leave Sac, that no one in the new city will care about the Vlade/Webber glory years. Plus, the Kings will become a distant memory in Sac.

As trivial as this sounds, Webber needs a place to go to feel loved, to see his uniform hanging, and to get a standing ovation. That has always been his personality. That might be one of the biggest reasons we get a new arena.

Whatever it takes!

He has actuallly said most of this and I forgot that rehabilitating his name may be a further motive for him. In any case, I welcome him aboard. I hope he is as much of a businessman as he is a charmer. If he isn't, I hope he charms the right businessmen and I suspect this will be his main role. He makes a great frontman for any issue.

Webber's jersey still hangs in my closet. :)

I actually think Webber is doing just fine. He has a great gig with TNT and the NBA TV. He is rapidly becoming a popular NBA color guy. I do agree that he wants to see his legacy in Sacramento alive an intact. The Maloofs would be smart to look at him for a role in the organization too.
