KINGS TEAM UP WITH BLOODSOURCE, JIMBOY’S TACOS AND BELLA BRU CAFES TO HOST LIFE SAVING BLOOD DRIVE
--Community Blood Drive assists patients in need; All donors will receive $5 in Bella Bru bucks, Jimboy’s Tacos coupon and 20% off at the Kings Team Store--
SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Apr. 2, 2013 – The Sacramento Kings and BloodSource have partnered for the third occasion in eight months to host a Community Blood and Marrow Drive in an effort to give the gift of life.
Blood donors from throughout the region are invited to the BloodSource location in Midtown on Thursday, April 4 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. In appreciation of their donation, anyone giving blood will receive 20 percent off at the Kings Team Store, $5 in Bella Bru bucks and a Jimboy’s Tacos coupon. The first 140 donors will also receive a pair of complimentary tickets to see the Kings play New Orleans on April 10. The Sacramento Kings Dancers will join mascots Slamson and Drippy the Blood Drop in making special appearances as part of the festivities.
Blood donors between the ages of 18-44 have an opportunity to join the Be The Match marrow registry—a national database designed to help patients locate donor matches. Each year, approximately 10,000 individuals search the Be the Match database in hopes of locating a match. Learn more at www.bloodsource.org.
BloodSource aims to collect 700 units of blood each day to help patients recover from cancer and cardiac treatments, motor vehicle injuries, organ transplants, complications from childbirth and more. The inaugural Kings/BloodSource Drive in 2011 yielded nearly 100 units, followed by another 158 on September 14, 2012 and 196 more on January 11 of this year—totals all organizations involved hope to increase with each blood drive.
