Amare May Soon Be A Cav (Rumor Still)

Some rumors have been floating around about Amare going to the Cavs... Well I stumbled onto this, and thought it was worth noting.

Got back earlier than I thought, but, I'm crashing early and getting an earlier flight tomorrow and heading out to Phoenix for the weekend.

I have to be careful here guys ... we have no "handshake deal" right now. ok.

We've obviously been in alot of talks with alot of teams. We have a clear priority established as to how we would like things to go for us, with standing pat always an option that we can ultimately go with, and still be happy moving forward.

Being a big part in JJ's early pro career here, going through this is especially tough for me right now. But, when you get into pro ball, this is the reality of the game. Careers can change on a moments notice, and you have to be prepared for anything, at anytime.

Like I say, no handshake deal has been made, and only Phoenix and Amare know precisely where they stand. But, something looks to be happening out in Phoenix. I've found out that Amare and Lebron have been talking, and I think that when I connect the dots, we may have a real deal want and desire for these two to join forces in Cleveland. This could mean for the foreseeable future.

Keep your fingers crossed ...don't know if I'll get much sleep tonight, but , the next time you hear from me I will likely be checked in , in Phoenix.

Isn't it "Hixson"?

;)

I'm just always skeptical of these kinds of posts since anyone truly on the inside would be totally and completely insane to post something like that on a fan board.

Wow--if they could literally snag Amare by sacking Wally it may indicate some buddy-buddy behavior between Kerr and Ferry, and that's not inconceivable. Reminds of the Laker trade for Gasol if that happens as well--the Cavs have been flaunting Wally for a top talent this whole season. If that's the case, a Lakers-Cavs finals is very probable.

I hope it happens. It would only be fair since the Finals will likely be Cavs/LA with or without this trade. Just, at least with the trade, both teams will have future HOF PF's on their team that they nabbed for a bag of stale potato chips.

Exactly.

If he is going to post this kind of stuff on the internet/fan boards, then for his sake I hope he is doing it anonymously so he won't be out of a job soon.

I understand your skepticism but some posters from other forums actually do have some kind of ties with NBA teams. For example there is a Suns poster in another forum who called the Shaq trade and two weeks before it took place.

I remember reading about Malone and Payton joining the Lakers days before they agreed to sign. That same poster continues to give us updates and hes been dead on.

Some people are plugged in and through time they have established a reputation and some havent.

Um, okay... That's really interesting. Some posters actually have ties with teams? Hrm...

If the Cavs trade for Amare the Celtics and the Lakers will rejoice. I've posted this before but the guys plays no Defense and doesnt rebound like he should.

For sure he is an upgrade over Ben Wallace and Anderson Verajao overall, but these guys do the dirty things that are not found on the stat sheet. If Amare doesnt get involved on offense than he is invisible out there.

There is a reason why the Suns stink even though they have a ton of talent, it isnt all Stoudamire there is plenty of blame to go around, but his primadona "I wanna be the Man" wine is not exactly helping matters.

Edit: I didnt really look at what the Cavs were giving up when I posted, but now that I see that it would only by Hickson and Wally, its win win for the Cavs. I still dont like Amare's game but the Cavs are better doing this deal than standing pat.

I dont understand your sarcasm or if you are indeed being sarcastic

Im not trying to convince you that some posters are plugged in Im just saying that it isnt inconcivable that team employees or other parties might have some actual info and actually posted basketball forums.

So instead of dismissing what some dude says (who might be right and for the most part might be wrong) out right why not add to the discussion and point out the inaneness of the trade or why the trade works in your point of view.

But, whatever....

I think she actually wasn't being sarcastic there and might have been genuinely interested in what you said. Hard to believe, I know, but its the drift I'm catching at least.

This is bull****.

If the Cavs land Amare for Hickson and Szczerbiak it will further prove that this league is full of ****!

Kwame for Gasol, Amare for trash, 2002 MF'IN WC PLAYOFFS... Give me a ****ing break.

I know this country (not me) elected Bush twice, but really, how dumb do they think we are?...

^^^ If the Suns want cap space, a young player and maybe a pick, and the Cavs give it to them, than oh well. It doesnt mean the league is rigged.

The Grizz wanted Cap space, young players, and picks. So Kaboom the Lakers gave it to them. The got what they wanted.

Its about connections.
Ainge + Mchale = Former Celtics
Jerry West(Mitch + Wallace) = Lakers
Danny Ferry + Steve Kerr = Former Spurs

It might not be fair but its life.

1. We're talking about a young 4x all star... NOT BRAD MILLER.

2. everyone one on the planet knows that LA-Memphis trade was a joke.

3. And you said it... it's all about connections... the right connections can get you anything, even a counterfeit championship with a nice shiny * next to it.

You can complain about the connections but the bottom line is thats life. And they still have to play for the championship, so unless the refs do something I don't see why they'd be having an asterik with it.

Sheed to Detroit for some belly button lint.

Steals happen. Generally when you trade young all-star/star players you're not going to get an equal return, that's the nature of it. Both owners in Pau and Amare were trying to cut salary, and when that becomes your priority you're going to get less talent since it's hard to find talented players on cheap contracts and generally teams don't want to let them go. Add to that Phoenix and Memphis are/were pretty desperate and it's not surprising that they are/were not getting perfect deals in return. It's fashionable to scream conspiracies and collusions, but I'm afraid it's not that deep; just teams being in the right place at the right time.

Are you kidding me? So the grizzlies thought....god I really want to see the lakers win the championship. Let's see what we can do.

As someone else pointed out, they got out of that deal what they wanted to get. Cap space and some young players. If they could have gotten something better from another team, you seriously think they wouldn't have taken it? Please.

These days, the NBA is just as much about managing cap space and future flexibility as it is about collecting as much talent as you can possibly assemble on your team. That's just the nature of the league given the collective bargaining agreement. Doens't mean there's some big fix in. Whining about it just seems like sour grapes.
