Thanks for the news, balbew. How reliable is that site?

Well, MBF had put Mendiola on the bubble after the game the other day, so looks like one of her bubble players is gone. Can we expect at least one more cut tomorrow?

DAMN!!! I knew it...

Well this is very disappointing, but not suprising.

I just Wish as a REAL fan of her's, I was able to say goodbye or hello for that matter. I am bummed out beyond all belief. But I truly hope she gets an opportunity with someone who can use her.

She was dead in the water here.
Whiz would have never utilized her, so this is really for the best. He shouldn't have bothered to bring her into camp. Should have let her go somewhere she could be used. But I guess that is just my disappointment coming out.

She is a class act and a real nice young lady. Let's hope the basketball Gods Smile on her and something good happens for her.

No Surprise. She struggled the other night vs. China. To me she looked a bit slow & it looked as if the Monarch's are going for a up tempo style. Who's next?

So Sad!

I do have to say this waiving of Giuliana is very sad, I sit back and read a lot of the stuff people right about her on this site but never say anything.. I waited the longest time for this game to come and to see her again...Last season her and I became cool with eachother, We would talk for maybe 15 minutes before the games and about 15 minutes after each game, whenever possible...I also go to talk to her family...Well this game on Friday, I seen her mom, aunt and grandmother...They recognized me and my mom from last season, Giuliana seen me and my mom both and came and gave us hugs...We talked for a little bit about things...she told me that they have "Political" issues with her...MEANING the stuff that happened with her brothers, so whomever else said it has something to with that...that was a major part of it...she herself knew that also...Whiz didnt play her very much...that bothered me a little bit..but hey nothing I could about it lol...After the game I was leaving so I said my good bye to her and I honestly was thinking I would see her again, she says, Ill see you when I see you...I knew she was having thoughts in her head that she wasnt going to be around again...While leaving the parking garage, her and her family were walking in there...we stopped and talked to her a few more...Last thing she said to us was to my mom "Happy Mothers Day"
She was a very sweet girl, I will miss talking with her and seeing her at the games and her family...I doubt any of the players actually read these forums, but if Giuliana does...Girl you will be MISSED SUPER MUCH!!! You know who this is...soooo CONTACT me lol

I'm truly sorry she didn't pan out. As much as I heard about her I would've liked to see her come through. I do hope she can get a chance elsewhere. She also may want to do more work in Europe to gain even more experience.

Good Luck!

Um....he should have never brought her to camp? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't believe she was even drafted last year so the fact that she got a paycheck from MS&E is a step up from a lot of other undrafted players in that 2004 draft or those who were drafted and cut. Or cut multiple times. ::cough Stacy Stephens, Maria Villaroel:: So let's get some perspective here. Undrafted players and third rounders have not fared very well sticking with rosters, and I'll say this too...last year's draft class is going to make it incredibly difficult for a lot of the draftees THIS year to even make a roster. Same thing happened after the ABL folded. That's why the league is expanding again over the next few years.

Erin Buescher played Guiliana onto the bubble and eventually off this team. Now these early cuts are actually GOOD for players who might be able to sign somewhere else. Erin Buescher in my book made it hard for Maiga to stay too, and goodness knows how I feel about Maiga. We already know Whiz loves Newton. So where exactly was Mendiola going to play here? The IR list all season, again?!?

I love Guiliana and wish her all the best and hope she's able to hook with another team. But after what I saw on Friday, she did not look to fit the uptempo game Whiz has in mind for one. And for two, there were two other players on the floor who did what she does either better or quicker, or both. Unless Buescher melts down on Thursday and in the other preseason game they have against Seattle - she's won a spot on this team somewhere at the expense of someone. It might be Maiga, Scott or Anderson. I don't see how you cut her unless she can't back up her performance in subsequent preseason opportunities. Maiga might be in trouble because Buescher does what she does, only adding a 3pt shot and she's more physical and looks to be the better passer of the two.

I think there is one more cut coming....I'm pretty certain Yo's re-signing with the Monarchs is imminent and the next cut will be to accomodate her activation.

The bottom line is this, she was too slow. I think the girl had a wicked jump shot, and plays with heart. But speed is the name of the game in professional sports. And if you don't have speed, you must compensate in other areas. Maybe she didn't have enough to over come a lack of foot speed.

I wish her the best.

Yea im hoping she gets picked up by another team...keeping fingers crossed..after this game I didnt think she was going to make it either...Buescher was awesome and soooo right there just showed she was going to stay and Mendiola was going to be out..of course shes a awesome person, but we need a team that is going to win us the championship this year...and Buescher is HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT haha

I wish Guliana all the best. I used to sit and watch her warm-up before every home game...she can shoot that's for sure.

Sidenote: There are still 19 players on the training camp roster!!! I'm glad I'm not the one having to make the decisions
