Okay, so maybe the panic was a little misplaced ... at least as far as team chemistry goes. The Kings went into the Motor City and did what needed to be done. The coaching staff obviously worked hard between Toronto and Detroit, getting the guys ready to slow down and play good solid basketball.

At least once, however, there were problems. An obviously very upset Ron Artest wanted a time out and nearly called one himself - something a player does NOT do unless a critical possession of the ball is involved. When Artest turned and yelled at the bench and, according to Grant and Jerry, continued the tirade during the break, it was more than puzzling. It was distressing - and it was at least a little reminiscent of how Artest acted at times in Indiana.

Ron Artest may have a lot of strengths and talent but Ron Artest is NOT the coach of the Sacramento Kings. The broadcasters may try and gloss it over but there's something troubling about his actions. And there's something just not right about the number of long shots Artest takes every night. It's frustrating - and it's not productive for the Kings. Hitting one once in a while doesn't make it right. It just makes it more aggravating.

The Kings face the Pacers who may, ironically, be without the player who won the game for Indiana when they visited Arco. Jermaine O'Neal is again suffering knee problems and it's not known if he'll take the court or not. In addition, there are rumors and whispers of lots of problems with Jamal Tinsley.

This is a game the Kings can win. It's going to take focus and it's going to take TEAM play but it's more than possible.

The game discussion thread is here.

The PBP thread is here.

GO KINGS!!!

In the Sacbee article it mentioned that Ron wanted Bibby to pass him the ball but he wouldn't.

Yeah, I just read that. It looks as though he was even more upset at Reggie. I do not like that it went on as long as it did or that he was that upset over it to begin with. Guess we have to take the good with the bad.

Let's hope that everything is great agaon for the game tonight!

I trust Reggie will have the problem resolved in a timely manner. Something I couldn't say last year.

Go back a few years and you could see the same comment on PacersDigest. What I'm really starting to worry about is Artest putting himself ahead of Reggie, the other coaches and the other players on the court.

Artest isn't the primary option on offense on this team and, even if he were, it wouldn't be from outside. Seeing him deciding to settle for the outside jumper instead of pounding inside against the likes of Rasheed Wallace really had me frustrated.

I like Reggie's comments to the media but I sincerely hope there's more serious discussion going on behind the scenes about the future of Ron Artest on our team.

The ticking is getting louder ... and more ominous with every passing day.

Great read, VF21, and great comment as well!

Ron is a time bomb, sure enough. The problem with Ron is he puts himself above the team. I love the statement "there is no 'I' in team", but for Ron there sure is a "me" in team. At the end of close games, Ron thinks he should have the ball in his hands to make a play. Well unfortunately he is neither the best shooter nor the best driver, not to mention not the best FT shooter. So on paper it doesn't make sense, but somewhere in Ron's jumbled head it does.

That is great news!!! Artest doesn't need the ball to be effective. and would do well to remember that sometimes

And that looks good on my comp screen, but unfortunately it doesn't register in Ron's head. He has said many times in the media that he "is like a Dwyane Wade or Kobe or LBJ as a scorer....." psshhht!
