Mister Slim Says:

HERE WE GO AGAIN! (Here we go again!)

SAME OLD SONG AGAIN! (Same old song again!)

MARCHING DOWN THE AVENUE! (Marching down the avenue!)

EIGHT MORE GAMES, AND WE'LL BE THROUGH! (Eight more games, and we'll be through!)

Two of the three most fun-to-watch teams in the NBA this season, in my Personal Record Book™, play in the Southeast Division. The Kings played one of them to start this road trip, and they'll play the second tonight. The Hawks managed to pull off the rare double "addition by subtraction" move this season, somehow improving by trading a 4x All-Star and a Unicorn. They appear to play a faster pace, and the ball seems to move a lot better without Trae Young's ball dominance. They also no longer have a Young-sized hole in their defense at the guard position, so that's bound to help.

Sacramento continues to maintain it's commitment to "ethical tanking" while teams like Indiana and Utah brazenly throw games in front of everybody. I don't believe in things like karma but, if it exists, one would hope that the Pacers and Jazz get their comeuppance.

On the plus side, this is one of the handful of Hawks games this season that's being broadcast on the other local channel (WANF which, unlike FanDuel Sports Network, is broadcast over-the-air), which means I'll actually get to watch it

Play the kids.

So growing up, I never actually saw the original Rocky. Rocky II? Yep. Rocky III? Yep. Rocky IV? I WILL BREAK YOU. But the original? Just was never on the menu. And so, seeing that the sequels were basically garbage popcorn movies, I figured Rocky was probably the same sort of stuff. Much later I learned it won Best Picture at the Oscars, and I was very confused. Why would they do that? Even then, it took me maybe another two decades to finally watch the film, and I was not prepared for it all. Not at all what I expected, not the ending I expected, incredibly good and I totally understand why it won Best Picture now.

So obviously I voted for Houses of the Holy. Wasn't particularly close.

Bob Rathbun is tickled pink about the origin of Nique Clifford's name. Figures the Kings would be in town when Dominique has the night off.

Scott Perry accidentally finding good role players that you probably don’t need for a rebuild off the scrap heap is all sorts of bad timing. We really could’ve used Precious and Plowden two years ago haha

It’s a hard sell around here, but if you look at the full drafting spectrum for the kings over the last several seasons, they’re actually pretty good at spotting talent. In fact, the problem with the roster really wasn’t the talent level. It was talent that didn’t compliment each other. It’s one of the reasons to believe that even if the kings don’t pull off a top three draft pick, they will probably do very well in the draft.
