[Game] 53/82: Kings @ Mavericks 10 FEB 2025, 5:30pm PT/8:30pm ET

Who is Fox? We have LaVine, JV and LaRavia.
We have 30 must win games left in the regular season. I hope that Zach will play with less blunders again. Team is healthy, reserves are solid.
Second half of Saturday's game was not bad at all. In Portland guys were busting their behinds, just couldn't overcome typical anomalous three point shooting from the Blazers.
Mavs have 25 Ls, we have 26. Enough said.

If every team shoots the 3 well against us doesn't that mean it's no longer anomalous when a team does it?

Some early returns on 5-man lineup data with new guys

Monk-LaVine-DDR-Keegan-Domas:
49 minutes
107.6 ORtg
123. DRtg
-16.7 Net Rtg (uh oh)

Keon-LaVine-DDR-Keegan-Domas
22 minutes
114 ORtg
118.4 DRtg
-4.4 Net Rtg

Monk-Keon-LaRavia-Lyles-Jonas
9 minutes
115 ORtg
86.4 DRtg
28.6 Net Rtg

New bench obviously crushed vs NOP, and we're dealing with miniscule sample sizes. But oh boy, that starting unit better shape up quick, this season is over if they don't figure out how to play with each other.

Opposing teams know that the best way to beat the Kings is to not play them at full strength.
Some opposing teams also know that the (2nd) best way to beat the Kings is to sign a former Kings player who primarily came off of the bench to play garbage time minutes for the Kings, and insert them into the starting lineup against the Kings.

Kind of surprised that the rest of the league hasn't quite caught up yet.

The main adjustment was limiting DeRozan playing with the bench . You add him to any lineup with a non spacing center & it’s a mess. After 50 games they finally realized that.

Yeah, I was scanning them as well, way too early to tell. The thing holding true is that if you are looking to impact the game defensively, DO NOT be a starter on this team. lol.

Feels like Zach has gotten a bit more comfortable each game. Hopefully with another off day he gets a little more time to do some walk-throughs with Domas so they get a feel for each other's tendancies. Lavine is currently shooting 20% from three as a king on 20 attempts. I realize that there is the obvious "curse of the kings", but that's just not going to continue at that level. I feel like in one of these three remaining games before the all star break he will break out with a big scoring night with his three point shot falling.

I'd actually be interested in seeing stats about what our opponent's 3PT% is in the first half vs. the second half. Because it sure seems to me like teams jump on us for like 50% in the fist half most of the time and then drop off in the second.

Great, great trade for Dallas. Not only do they not have Doncic, they also don't have Davis for most of the remaining season. The trade couldn't have worked better. Apparently, there are demonstrations in the street in Dallas and their GM is talking about it only being a short-term gig.

Who didn't see this coming, besides EVERYONE!

Trading #77 for AD was idiotic, even if AD was guaranteed to play 75+ games each season. But it's downright criminal to make that trade knowing his injury track history.

If there was ever something concrete to point to demonstrating how the NBA pull strings to the benefit of their flagship franchises -- and GAME 6 in 2002 wasn't a red enough flag --- then this secret trade is your smoking gun.

Apparently, I'm the only one that didn't :p

LaVine has looked proactive in attacking the basket and trying to make plays with Domas underneath. It’s looked creative a lot of the time even if it hasn’t resulted in a solid working connection for the most part. Hoping that starts clicking soon, and that the time off has helped them. Good opportunity with street clothes Davis riding the pine.
