De'Aaron Fox has the entire offseason for his broken index finger to heal now that the Sacramento Kings lost their first-round playoff series to the Golden State Warriors, but he reportedly won't need that long. According to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee, Fox said he does not need surgery and will be 100 percent within two-to-three weeks. The guard suffered the broken finger during Game 4 of the back-and-forth series and told reporters he likely wouldn't have played in Game 5 if it were the regular season.

I replied to a revelation about this on twitter earlier: I honestly don't believe this is true. It makes zero sense. "league source".

"League sources" said no other teams besides Indy knew that Hali was on the market which was another one of those reasons we were roasted for "only" getting Domas for LeBron jr. Also Harden and Fox ???

nah.

Headline seems a little off. The orginal story just says Haliburton was on the table in talks involving Simmons—given the salary discrepancy it’s not like the Kings could have just offered Hali for Simmons even if they had wanted to, which the headline suggests. There would have been a lot more moving parts than those two.

Clearly the Kings wanted to move Buddy Hield in any deal with Haliburton

The 2016 NBA Draft is not one of those redrafts. For a few years, Ben Simmons was the easy choice at No. 1. The last time we did this exercise, Jaylen Brown took over the top spot from Simmons. Almost a year later, there's a new name at No. 1 that might come as a surprise.

Well, it was deleted once, but then it showed up again and somebody commented on it...my general policy is not to intentionally delete news-spam that has been commented on (sometimes I delete before noticing the comment...)

Justyn Mutts didn't come to Virginia Tech out of high school but left as one of the most popular players in recent school history. Mutts, a 6-foot-7 forward from Millville, New Jersey, initially signed with High Point, where he played his freshman season, starting 18 games. From there, he transferred to Delaware, where he spent two years — sitting one under NCAA transfer rules — before transferring to Virginia Tech in 2020. After three years with the Hokies, Mutts now gets his chance to make an NBA team.

Sabonis has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Sacramento Kings, one that will keep him signed through the 2027-28 season, a person with knowledge of the talks confirmed Sunday. In case you missed it, Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray recorded a 41-point game during the California Classic Summer League. Sacramento ended the game with a victory but Murray was the star of the show. It was a masterful performance from Murray, who will not play for the Kings during the NBA Summer League tournament in Las Vegas. As such, we have all the data we are going to get from Murray against this level of competition.

ESPN News Services Jul 6, 2023, 04:01 PM ET Facebook Twitter Facebook Messenger Pinterest Email print The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal to acquire Indiana Pacers guard Chris Duarte in exchange for two second-round picks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday. The Pacers will receive a 2028 second-round pick (via Dallas) and the Kings' 2030 second-round pick. The trade is expected to be finalized later Thursday. Duarte, taken 13th overall in the 2021 NBA draft, was an All-Rookie choice during the 2021-22 season when he averaged 13.1 points per game, sixth-best among rookies. Duarte missed time with an ankle injury last season on his way to averaging 7.9 points.

Ahead of the NBA draft, Iowa All-American Kris Murray was projected by many to be selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 24th pick, in part, because his twin brother, Keegan, was on the roster. Murray was taken one spot ahead of the Kings by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 23rd pick, and the Kings dealt their pick to the Dallas Mavericks, who drafted Olivier-Maxence Prosper out of Marquette.

Neemias Queta will go into training camp with a chance to make the Kings' regular season roster, but his new contract suggests the 7-foot center from Portugal still has something to prove as he enters his third season. Earlier this week, the Kings signed Queta to his first standard NBA contract after he played his first two seasons on two-way contracts. HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported Thursday that Queta received a two-year, $4.2 million deal, but the first year is only partially guaranteed and the second year is non-guaranteed. Queta, 24, will be a focal point in one of Sacramento's biggest position battles as the Kings continue their search for a backup center behind three-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis.

Following the conclusion of group play, the six group winners and two wild cards will advance to the knockout round quarterfinals. When trying to predict a winner, one has to factor in which teams will be OK with some extra traveling to Las Vegas as well as caring about the prize money from advancing to the next round (at least $100,000 guaranteed).

Bleacher Report typically gets a pretty immediate *delete* but I guess if they're going to predict we make it to the tournament finals then I'm not going to be the one to circular file it.

It's been six years for Malik Monk. In a mostly disastrous season in which the Lakers did almost everything wrong, Monk was the major piece they got right, signed on a remarkably cheap minimum contract before he went out and had a career-best year: 13.8 points, 47.3% shooting, 39.1% 3-point shooting. Last year, his numbers were down slightly in Sacramento (13.5 points, 44.8% shooting, 35.9% on 3s) but he was much more effective as a weapon—a consistent threat off the bench who was the centerpiece of the second unit and was comfortable running with old friend De'Aaron Fox (they were teammates at Kentucky) and the first unit. Coach Mike Brown was sure to press the media for their Monk votes.
