That means the minimum team salary will be 42M from what I understand. We have 33M committed. If our draft picks take up 4M or so, we HAVE to sign at least 5M worth of players.

Yes, but it also puts other teams in position to sign more of them as well. We have more money to play with, but we also have more competition.

that is exactly what i was thinking.... david stern would love for 2 max players like lebron and dwade or cbosh to go to new york and eventually have a new york vs lakers finals...

amazing how the nba just coincidentally give just enough cap space to put 2 max players in n.y., when they had been preaching that the cap would go down all year!!!
