At #3, Minnesota takes Candice Wiggins
At #4, Detroit takes Alexis Hornbuckle

Thank goodness the Lynx took Wiggins. I REALLY didn't want her to be playing for Evil Bill! I sure hope the Lynx don't trade her to them either!

I hope Harper works out; it'd be nice if she and Brunson can form a nucleus we can build on.

Washington is going to be beast: between the Natural Disasters and Langhorne, their frontline is ginormous... And, oh yeah, they still have Beard and Currie...

I like Franklin, and think she might be a good, quick choice for us. She has a fast first step. Bummed we missed getting Pringle and Leilani Mitchell at pg, and bummed that Phoenix got them both. If you thought they were quick and athletic before, watch them now!

The ticker on ESPNU is saying that we took Izabella Piekarska from UTEP at 40, but that pick must not have been announced, since I surely didn't see it...

I watched her once in the game against Stanford...only thing I remember is that she could shoot the three and was pretty slow footed. Interesting...

Allen's a nice pick to round out the draft with. Another defender, very volume scorer and we obviously value Big East talent.

Piekarska, definitely not a speed merchant, I think she's the ceremonial post player picked as a camp project. Unless Frohlich isn't in the mix.

I like Franklin, she's not at the top of my list, but she's a player who comes from a program where defense is the first, second and third priority. It's her defense (defending on ball) and ability to shoot from the perimeter that brings her here. We absolutely positively need more perimeter shooters/scorers.

I'm being told I will love Harper. I loved Pringle and Langhorne and Humphrey more, but I can adapt ;)

My computer is wigging out so I'll be back in a sec to finish some thoughts.

Happy with Harper, I like the Allen move too.

The UTEP big is decent considering we got her in the 3rd round. I give the Monarchs a B-. Not A bad draft day, not particularly thrilled with the Minature sized point guard, but she has skill. So Why not?

I still think there are gonna be some trades on the horizon. Not sure how the M's can fit into that mix.

I guess Meg Bulger will get a camp invite.:p

Does anyone know about this Izabella Piekarska (from UTEP), other than what MBF mentioned about her? I don't see a prospect profile of her on the WNBA website.

This year, we definitely drafted some collegiate East Coasters (other than Piekarska), so I don't know much about the others we chose. But as Luv13 mentioned, it looks like a few trades might be in the offing.

Inviting Meg Bulger to the camp? Man, that's too cruel! :p

But I would love to see Antionette Wells (or Welles) give the Monarchs another shot. I wonder how she was doing since last spring? I remember the SacBee had a touching article during her brief time here.

Signing Bulger would be awesome - if she and Allen stuck on this roster, we essentially scored an extra pick beyond the extra pick we thought we'd get this year. Although they would sorta be a redundancy unless you played Allen down a slot. That could give you the flexibility to trade somebody currently on the roster in a swing slot.

I have a sense of what the difference is between the draft camp invite list and the prospect list, but I have no idea how players are chosen for the prospect list, so I'm not sure why Piekarska isn't in their database.
