Okay, it's nearly that time. For those of you who have participated before, welcome back. For those of you new to the game, welcome.

Here are the rules for the regular season 2005-2000:

2005-2006 Official Kingsfans Prediction Game Rules
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. All predictions must be in by the SCHEDULED start TIME of the game.
2. Once you have posted your predictions, you cannot edit them. So, if you select a player and later find out that player will not play, don't attempt to change your prediction.
3. The prediction game thread is JUST for predictions. A separate thread will be started for discussion of the game itself.
4. The purpose of the game is to have fun.
5. You may only name one player per category.
6. Predictions in the field goal % category, 3 pt. % category and the FT % category must be listed as whole numbers. (Note: the field goal % category is new for this year's regular season game.)
7. Prediction game results will be posted after the game. If you think your score is incorrect, send a PM to VF21 and include either a link to your prediction or the post #. Tallies will be posted at the end of the prediction game thread, which will show a ** once the results are there.

The OFFICIAL game thread will be posted in plenty of time to allow everyone to make their predictions. If someone is going to miss a game, they should send their predictions via PM to VF21 - who will post them into the appropriate game thread. To avoid confusion, game threads will be started by VF21 or - in the event of unexpected situations - 6th. This way, everyone will be looking for a familiar thread... and all the predictions will follow the same format. (That's the only way to tally predictions accurately and quickly.)

Prediction categories (with samples):
Game score: Kings 113-103
Top Kings scorer: Peja 28
Top Kings rebounds: Miller 14
Top Kings assists: Bibby 8
Top Kings blocks: Skinner 3
Top Kings steals: Wells 4
Kings turnovers (TO) - 13
Kings field goal % - 38% (round to the nearest whole percentage)
Kings 3 pt. % - 41% (round to nearest whole percentage)
Kings free throw % - 85% (round to nearest whole percentage)

Here's how your predictions will be scored:

Game Score: 1 point is awarded for guessing King's score. 1 point is awarded for guessing the opponent's score. 5 points for correct scores of both teams. And you get 1 point if you predict the correct point spread.
Top Scorer: 1 point for name of scorer; 3 points for name and actual points scored.
Rebounds: 1 point for name of rebounder; 3 points for name and rebounds.
Assists: 1 point for name of assist leader; 3 points for name and number of assists.
Blocks: 1 point for name of top blocker; 3 points for name and number of blocks.
Steals: 1 point for name of top steals; 3 points for name and number of steals.
TO: 3 points
Field goal %: 3 points for exact percentage (rounded); 1 point if you are +/- 1 percentage
point.
3pt %: 3 points for exact percentage (rounded); 1 point if you are +/- 1 percentage point.
free throw %: 3 points for exact percentage (rounded); 1 point if you are +/- 1 percentage point.

If you're going to participate, please keep a copy of these rules for reference.

Note one: If you do not participate regularly, your score will not be shown in the daily standings.

Note two: There are, once again, TENTATIVE PLANS for some prizes, but nothing concrete as of yet. If we do end up giving prizes, it will be incidental to the game and not the reason for participation.

Prizes would be awarded to:

Regular season champion
Playoff champion
Consolation bracket champion
Single game high points winner

That's all I'm going to say about prizes for now, because This is all about fun, and competition, and bragging rights, etc.

Anyway, these are the rules. I'll be posting the threads for this weekend's games shortly.

GOOD LUCK. Remember - the pre-season is just for practice.

IMPORTANT message for prediction game players

I've made a couple of corrections to the past few tallies and I'm sorry for any errors.

Part of my problem is the vast number of different ways people are posting player's names, I think. While Peja and SAR are pretty standard, some people are saying Mike while others say Bibby, some say Brad and others say Miller, some say Bonzi and others say Wells.

For the most part, it's easier on me to check if people use the last names. (With the exceptions of SAR and Peja, which are both much easier to type than Abdur-Rahim and Stojakovic.)

So, if you don't mind too much, please use the last names, with the exceptions for SAR and Peja. If I do make a mistake, feel free to send me a PM and be sure and include your post number.

Thank you!

P.S. PLEASE don't change any posts you've already made...

;)
