Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

True. GMs must love when their owners tell them to tank to get those lottery balls. Takes virtually all the pressure off of them for many years. An owner that wants to stay competitive and take the next step (however how unrealistic) will be much harder to please. I think in the end, Vivek...

Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

I don't recall hearing any rumors that we were close to getting Cam Johnson? The Nets wanted at least 2 first round picks for him and I don't know that would had been a good trade, considering we were still a borderline play-in team even with Fox.

Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

The irony of that Luka draft was that all signs pointed to Vivek wanting Luka. He probably heard all the grumblings that he was a meddling owner and stepped back to allow the FO to make the call. In the end, he allowed Vlade and Brandon Williams (with Williams seemingly the one making the call)...

Almost forgot about Jordi. It is very possible that Jordi was the one that helped Brown achieve better results. The wheels did fall off the Brown bus once Jordi left. If Doug is retained as HC, he will need to get a good set of experienced coaches to help him right this ship.

[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (Redux)

This is why the Kings can't get out of their own way. Like I said before the last game of the season against Phoenix. We lose that game and we are tied at 39 wins and had a good chance of landing in the top 12 and keeping our pick. The Kings are the king of winning meaningless games...

Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

IMHO, I would be fine with Doug Christie as coach next year. I think he has potential to be one of the better HC in the league if given a fair shake. The new GM would need to balance out this roster with more length and defense to make this team work. But, it shows now, being at #9 after all...

    McNair gone

I don't think Vivek really wanted to extend Brown. He was basically forced too because Brown went public with his contract demands even though he still had 2 years left on his contract. Firing Brown, yes probably Vivek, but I wouldn't say that was a mistake.

    Jake injury update

Agreed. I think LaRavia stays so long as Perry offers him a fair deal. His inability to stay healthy for a whole season should help us retain him. I think re-signing Doug Christie as coach would also help, because he will know he has a role on the team. If it's a new coach, he may not want to...

Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

That is the problem and uncertainty when a new GM comes in. These are not his players, so he won’t necessarily keep them around long term. Hopefully Perry is smart enough to keep the young guys (DC, Keon, Keegan, LaRavia) around and trade those vets that’s not in the long term plans for some...

    McNair gone

While Sabonis was instrumental in making the year one Beam Team click, Hali would had been the better long term answer for the Kings. Like I said, it's a guard and SF league, not a big man league anymore. Also, yes Fox value was low, but you could see the potential of Hali after his first...

The man literally cried when we traded him. In most cases, players cry when they are traded TO the Kings, not the other way around. ;)

    McNair gone

McNair biggest mistake was trading Haliburton instead of Fox. I know we wouldn't had gotten Sabonis, but the NBA is a guard and SF league, not center league anymore. Plus Hali would had been loyal to the end, not like Fox. He should had traded Fox and built around Hali. His second biggest...

Scoreboard Watch/Playoff Standings Watch 2025 Edition

I know. I actually timed a replay on a stopwatch and exactly at 5 seconds, the ball was coming out of his hands. Normally, tie goes to the inbounder, but I guess not when a trip to the playoffs for the Warriors is on the line

Should Monte be the GM next year?

Unfortunately, the ONLY way we keep our pick now is to lose in the Play-in and then beat the astronomical odds and win the lottery and land in the top 4. The Kings have a 2.4% chance of lucking into a top 4 pick if they lose in the play-in. If they would had Lin yesterday, they would...

Scoreboard Watch/Playoff Standings Watch 2025 Edition

I think at this point, if we don't make the playoffs through the play-in, we should try to get in a position to save our draft pick, which is top 12 protected. We need to Lose tomorrow and Chicago Win and we would be tied for #12/13 at 39 wins each. If Dallas wins, they would be #14 in draft...

Scoreboard Watch/Playoff Standings Watch 2025 Edition

If somehow we jump up into the top 4, we actually will keep the pick. It's a top 12 protected pick, post lottery. So if we lose in the play in and wind up at #1 for Cooper Flagg, I think we are all good ;)

    The trading of Domantas Sabonis.

Yeah, if you start Devin Carter at PG next year, you would need a strong ball handling and scoring SG, like Monk next to him. I don’t think DC would be a high assist type PG. More of a 3 and D Point Guard like Marcus Smart.

    Friar

I don't think Keegan necessarily lacks confidence. I think it's more an issue of aggression and being more assertive. He seems to be too passive IMO. He needs to look for his shots more often.

    Open Letter to Coach Christie

Any wholesale changes will probably have to occur in the off season. If the main guys remain healthy, DC will probably ride with what he has been. On the flip side, sending either DDR or Lavine to the bench would drop their trade value, which wouldn't be a good thing considering we are likely...

    [Game] 64/82: Kings vs. Knicks 10 MAR 2025, 7:30p PT/10:30p ET

I’m actually rooting for the Mavs to win more. I would much rather play Dallas than Phoenix with KD and Booker in a single game elimination play-in match up.
