Finally. I've been calling for this since about his 4th game. He's not even close to ready yet.
Theres flashes. POR game on defense was awesome. But theres not a role for him right now (I'm more of the belief Christie isn't giving him one rather than not being minutes) and he's not going to develop playing 3-6 minutes a night.

Looks like LaRavia is going to fill his few minutes at this point. They need the full sized wing more than they need what Carter is able to do currently.

Also potentially helps a little to keep Keon's minutes up

Can't see them removing Lyles from the rotation. He's the only power forward on the team, other than Jones...who is still on the two way.
I mean, you know I dont care about traditional positions at all. I think Lyles is just worse at the 4 slot and his value is greatly diminished since we don't need him at the 5 anymore. And LaRavia is a true big wing flex anyway, similar to Keegan that it doesn't matter if you put him at the 3 or 4

Point is that an NBA team generally needs a bigger stronger player, however you want to label them, outside of their centers. Lyles is one of those guys. A stretch power forward, who can play small 5

Nope, I will blame Fox. He could have requested a trade this offseason and given us more leverage in negotiations. But he played nice because he wanted to chase the all-nba bag. He did not care about the Kings in slightest throughout this whole process. He had this franchise hostage and Monte at least found somewhat of an escape hatch to get out of this thing battered down, but not all the way knocked down.

If it was so easy to find a brunson fvv and keon, why doesn't every team do it?
It’s not Fox’s job to safeguard the team’s interest. Monte had plenty of notice and failed to get done what was needed.

But we all know how this place operates. On our team the player can do no wrong. Once traded or fired everything was/is their fault. Fox took care of Fox. That was his job. Monte did a poor job balancing the roster and continues to do so with his stupid drafting.

Think we could have used Kel’le Ware at power forward instead of another guard for whom we can’t find time in the rotation.

Yeah, no reason to be playing him 3 minute stretches, they should have done this when Fox was here. The only issue is how much will it actually help him? Not sure. He can go into the G league and soak up all the minutes he can, but if he comes back and gets 3 minutes at a time that's still all or nothing. His defense and rebounding is already there. Last I checked he's leading in 5 of the 6 shooting zones in terms of DFG% against among all Kings guards defensively. And leading in 1 or 2 team wide. Hopefully he gets a chance to run pick and roll every single play and they have exact plays they want him to run so when he comes back he knows what to do.

maybe the biggest help will just be conditioning. Hard to be in basketball shape playing 3 minutes. All their practices are walk throughs so no real scrimmages. Go average 22 8 and 6 down there for 10 games.

I'd rather give LaRavia, Lyles minutes and play Carter. But is what it is, not going to happen this year
The scary thing is there were absolute moments where Carter needed to play just for defense alone. His ability to defend up might be shown for the need it is at some point. I'm sure there's a plan with Carter. Monte first said this is a long term thing with him and I saw a clip from that interview he did and when it came to impressing his father or something he said maybe in a few years. The Kings are likely following the same path they did with Keon and are now with Jones as well. Now it's up the vets to carry it through along with Christie. If it doesn't work the who knows what the rest of the season even looks like.

Yeah, anytime they have media from any practice it certainly doesn't look like Brown's where guys are gassed and tired, lol. This was always going to be about this summer for he and Isaac Jones. They've clearly been holding both of them back for a longer term development even though they are older. Rookies are still rookies at the end of the day it's just that the older ones should have a much steeper incline so we'll see.

And Lyles is going to have issues with certain teams, we know this, we've seen it. The way DC is running this team is definitely short term thought process. We'll see how the players handle it when he benches them for need. Then as it goes on it'll be based on survival which is a way to do it, but could end up with some sad faces, haha. One things for sure, Zach is going to have to be the player they saw in this game. He's by far the most talented on the team now. Outside of that who goes in or out around Zach and Domas is probably up to the moment.

Here's a question how on earth did the Kings end up playing the pelicans this week back to back and both at New Orleans? I'm not sure if I've seen that before, back to back in the same building? Has anyone ever seen that before? Maybe it's happened and I just never noticed it.

We played the Pelicans last year b2b in the same building, and we did the Wolves b2b the previous year.

I too thought it was pretty strange at the time. Both those teams are pretty long flights from SMF; maybe there's an effort to minimize travel?

The league added this b2b vs the same team schedule in the covid season to minimize travel. they have kept it since the players liked it as well.
