NBA Analyst Bashes Sacramento Kings 'Hopeless' Future

These types of things always come down to what the expectation is for a successful season. If the expectation is that we could in theory build a successful team next year that competes for a playoff spot, I can buy that. However, if the definition is whether this team could ever be in serious...

    Admit it

I was (and still am) living in the Seattle area when the Kings were potentially moving. Regardless of the fact that I would have been able to watch live NBA games over the past decade, I was probably the only person in the area that was rooting against a move. I have no freaking idea why this...

    Draft Lotto Thread (2025 edition)

Never going to eliminate some form of tanking unless there is absolutely no statistical advantage to having a lower record. We are living in a world of analytics gone amuck where we see teams now shooting 50+ three pointers in a game because the probabilities of winning are better. Unless we...

[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

Zach is not worth is salary because he’s not a number one. However he can still be a very valuable piece to the right team in the right role. As a personality, he’s actually nothing like I thought. I always pictured him as a me first primadonna type. However he actually seems like a pretty down...

    Perry introductory press conference

I’m not trying to litigate the decisions that were made last year. Just assessing whether it’s feasible that Perry right NOW, is empowered to make decisions. I believe he is and that he believes he is in charge of basketball decision making. So, refuse to believe the press conference was some...

    Perry introductory press conference

Jumping in here in what is kind of a painful thread to read through. As a general nit to this point, why is the assumption that Vivek made the decision to extend Brown and then made the decision to fire him? Seems more likely Monte pushed to extend brown over the summer, arguing for continuity...

    Next Coach

I'm OK going in with Doug. With that said, I am intrigued by Jinkins. Seems like he wore out his welcome in Memphis, but he was there for quite a while so maybe understandable. I do like that (at least until this year), Memphis always seemed to play tough, physical defense. Seemed like he...

[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

My My comment had nothing to do with the decision to trade Fox when we did. Only pointing out that Christie probably has a significantly better win percentage if Fox wasn’t traded and he didn’t have to figure out a new group of players that clearly didn’t mesh.

    McNair gone

GMs generally develop a “type” and roster philosophy. Clearly McNair valued basketball “skills”, shooting (which is ironic looking back at how inept we became at shooting), hard workers and team first guys. This resulted probably in too many guards, too many nice guys, not enough tough guys...

[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

I think this is exactly why an actual HC search should happen, even if Doug is the front runner. I thought he did a very good job this year. If the Fox drama doesn’t happen, I could have seen us winning 45+ games which would have been a great accomplishment. But he also didn’t have his own staff...

[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

Can someone explain the basics of NBA extensions for A player of Zach’s tenure and current salary? Is it doable to reduce annual salary in extension years? Restructure down remaining years to lower salary? I’m not seeing any up side to a Lavine extension but trying to imagine the best case...

agreed, although I hope this was in the works for a while. Otherwise would feel way too rushed of a decision for a guy that isn’t necessarily in hot demand.

[News] Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

Ehhh…. On the one hand, glad we didn’t take a flier on another first time GM that is more likely to get bullied by Vivek. On the other hand, while Perry may be “respected”, he doesn’t necessarily have an amazing track record and so seems a bit of a retread. A lot probably depends on the...

    McNair gone

You forgot to add that not only do we need a GM that can play the mind games with Vivek to get what he wants, but that GM needs to also be good enough at GMing to make successful decisions to build a winner. Honestly, perhaps this was Monte for a couple years. He never seemed overly thrilled to...
