Wow. How great is it that the top two seeds are actually meeting in the final? Who goes on to the big show?

I can't vote in this one yet. My head is telling me San Antonio but the Kings fan in me sees so much in the Thunder that reminds me of our best days. I would love to see them win the Western Conference.

This. I was actually gonna say the same thing. My brain tells me San Antonio. But my heart is screaming Thunder....Just like you, I am gonna hold off on voting until I can convince myself one way or the other...

I just hope it goes the full seven games, as I'm sure it will be basketball the way it's supposed to be played. The bonus of not seeing the Kobe Bryant ego or Blake Griffin posturing will be icing on the cake.

I, too, hope we see a long series. I just do not know if the Spurs' wealth of experience, and the Thunder's lack of, will allow it to go 7 games. Not even sure if we will see a game 6. We shall see, though...

Spurs are going all the way this year. Just way to organized, selfless, talented, and experienced. Now they have enough youth. Their team defense at the end of games gets it done against the Heat or Pacers, whoever wins that series.

I was about to go with the Spurs because of team chemistry and experience. But the Thunder had proven themselves that they can handle anything thrown at them by beating the defending champ and then the Lakers who also had a lot of experience in playoff games. They didn't just win, they owned them.

IMO:
Durant > Duncan
Russell > Parker
Harden > Manu

Harden is not better than Manu in these games, right now. Durant, yes, of course! But can Durant guard Duncan on the block? Hell no! Ibaka can block shots, but not as well if you take him away from the basket and put him on Duncan and Timmy goes glass or hits the 16 footer all day. Perkins might be their best bet on Timmy, but he'll need help. That's where the Spurs ball movement will kill. Look for the Spurs to hit a lot of threes in this series, and if the defense stretches out, look for Manu to cut to the hole all day long, or just give it to Timmy and let him work his man one on one.

And the spurs have a couple good perimeter defenders they can switch to put on Westbrook, and I expect they will at times.

The Spurs match up well with the Thunder.

Thunder don't stop a balanced attack all that well yet. The Spurs do. There's your difference IMO.

Biggest risk for the Spurs is just KD going off for like 40-50 super efficient points a game.

must be a ratings thing. cram as many games as possible into the weekends (including back-to-backs) in the name of ratings. nevermind that any actual NBA fan is now bored as hell until sunday.
There are guaranteed to be Eastern Conference games Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and one or two Saturday if either series goes to game 7. That should be enough to keep any actual NBA fan from being too bored (I hope), and I don't think they want to start the Western Conference Finals too soon before the Eastern Conference Finals.

Why not? What the hell difference does it make? They've been doing this for seventy years. It's not that ****ing complicated.

Oh yeah,

I said it in the WCSF thread, and I shall say it again: now that the Thunder have disposed of the gd lakers, I hope that they turn around and get swept by the Spurs, because the only thing that Clay Bennett deserves is to die, slowly and publicly, of a social disease.

Don't get me wrong, I like Durant. I like Harden, I love Perkins, I love Collison, I love Ibaka, I love Sefolosha. I like Scott Brooks, I love Maurice Cheeks. But, **** their ownership, and **** their fans.

Go Spurs!

And from what has been reported, only a few people bought the shirt.

I'm totally making an OKC Thounders shirt to wear to the next Cascadia Cup match though.

I can appreciate ill will towards Bennett; but I'm not sure what you expect from the fans.
I expect something vaguely resembling empathy. There certainly has to be a way to be happy that your city got a team without having a "get ****ed" attitude towards the city that lost the team. You telling me that if the Kings end up going back to Kansas City (or, god forbid, Anaheim), and become a contending team, and then some business owner in the city pulls that, you telling me that you wouldn't be fit to be tied as a Kings Fan?

If by "that" you mean the shirt then yeah, I assume the person that printed the shirt is a tool, and I'd assume anybody I saw wearing the shirt was a tool. I don't associate that with the fanbase at large though. Every sports fanbase has tools.

I'm not sure what complicated has to do with it. If the WCF start Wednesday and go 4-0 it would end Tuesday the 29th, but the ECF might not start until Monday the 28th and go 7 games, and end Saturday June 9th. You could literally have a situation where the WC champs have 14 days off before the finals but the EC champs only have 2 days. I don't think the NBA wants that a possibility.

Agreed. I feel a camaraderie with Thunder fans. They're living the dream we once had and I don't blame the fans for what Clay Bennett did. I'm still not sure who I want to win, though. I'm truly looking forward to an excellent WC final. And I just wish the Heat would melt into the concrete and disappear. To paraphrase Slim, **** the Heat.

Lebron signed with Miami Heat while Kevin Durant resigned with the Thunder...two years ago with two different paths to the championship. I like to see that battle and especially would love to see Kevin Durant gets his first ring while Lebron watched from the side line.

If they meet in the championship...I can see a good rivalry between the two teams for a long time. That is why I'm crossing my finger for the Thunder to win.

one game a day is just not enough of fix for me. should've probably not spoken in general, but I'll be bored.

San Antonio in 4. **** OKC and their "Thank you Seattle" shirts.
Why are you hating on OKC?

The shirt isn't that wrong IMO...it's not classy but it's not that horrible either. Without Seattle screwing up on arena and the previous owner selling...there wouldn't be the Thunder. And it's not like the franchise is promoting this either. And fans come in every size and color..including Kings fans.

Regarding relocation: If you own a team and your home town got an arena waiting for you, you would put that aside for people that you have no relationship with? Come on now. If the previous owner really care about keeping the team in seattle he would of put that in the contract.

I'm rooting for the Spurs - just because I think they are really winning basketball in absolute brilliant fashion. The Thunder to be honest, have 2/3 unstoppable guys, and a bunch of bruisers. There's no real brilliance on the offensive end for them - it's setting screens for Westbrook to pull up at the free throw line or penetrate and dish to Perkins and Ibaka for mid-range shots, otherwise it's just iso-ing Durant.

There's nothing wrong with that, and I damn well wouldn't mind if we built our team that way. But as a neutral fan who supports neither team in the regular season, I think the Spurs really deserve credit for how well they play as a team, given how people write them off year in and year out.

But at the end of the day, I just want the Heat to lose.

Have you ever visited a Thunder message board? I didn't just start thinking "**** Thunder fans" yesterday, and I didn't make that up from whole cloth; Thunder fans really do have a "**** Seattle, we got ours" mentality. It's not just one ******* business owner. There's a significant percentage of their fanbase who really thinks like that.

If they didn't stretch out the playoffs in both conferences like they have, it wouldn't be a problem.
