No he's a soulful white boy singer from Detroit that will have you feeling like you're back in the 60's. Even though I'm an 80's baby ;)

I think people listen to what they want to listen to, not what they need to. I listen to a lot of old school hip-hop and underground, rap with a purpose and stories. Not like a lot of new rappers these days just not making sense when they rhyme and it's overall all trash. I am 21 though.

Very true. I didn't mean any disrespect. To be honest, I'm a rap/hip hop junkie. Been so since I was little. The game is just so bad right now and to be honest I blame the fans. All the idiots that keep supporting the soldier boys and lame rappers out there create a visious cycle of rap obscurity. Granted, we don't have to listen to the maintream crap and I don't but as I got older I began to appreciate a wider arrange of music.

That's very understandable, no disrespect taken. People these days want to listen to what makes them dance and party with and unfortunately it's not always the best way to approach this type of music when there is so much more then that. I guess they like what they like and you can add that in another category of "Rap". I see what you mean though as your age grows so does your taste for other varities of music, it depends on the person. What artists did you grow up listening to?

Tupac, biggie, bone thugs, eminem, nas, etc... I was never really a big fan of the tribe called quests and wutangs of the world and I don't know why. R&b has always been big in my music taste as well.

Really.. no love for the west coast/underground rappers:

Murs
Grouch
Eligh
2Mex
Scarub
Brother Ali
Slug
Aceyalone
Abstract Rude
Busdriver
Aesop Rock
Myka Nyne

Just for starters...

@est: Those are pretty much the same choices as I have as well when I first started listening to including Jay-Z. I too never really could get into A Tribe Called Quest & Wu-Tang. BUT, I do love their solo performances, GZA & Ghostface are my fav.

@Crut: I've heard of some of those underground artists, but I don't listen to any of them. I like Skyzoo, Wale, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, Masta Ace, Atmosphere, Redman & Method Man, Supastition, J. Cole, etc.

Kid Cudi is probably my favorite current rapper.

Not really a big fan of the underground as I feel they have a stuborness when it comes to making it big or being a mainstream artist. They think they'll be considered sell outs or something.

Kid Cudi is just unique so that's what's good about him.

I personally don't care about their attitude. As long as they make good music that can make me bob my head I am all for it.

Yeah I'm looking forward to Mood Muzik 4 as well. I also am eager to check out how Kanye West's new CD will fair out, I hope he comes back with the old Kanye and provides good music.

Oh.. and before I forget, for anyone who has NOT heard this album yet, thank me later. You will not regret it. This is a mixtape and available for download online. Definitely underrated and one of my top 5 of the year easily.

I've actually heard some of Big Krit's songs from his mixtape. I just didn't know where to download the mixtape, thanks for the link by the way. Isn't Mood Muzik 4 out November 9th or something? Atleast that's what I saw. I really want to check it out, from the two or three songs I've listened from that album, Budden is better than ever!

I'll probably just wait for the MM4 to drop officially in Nov. then download it from there.

As for Krit, I'll look it up somewhere. Since your giving it high praise, I'll check out the whole thing.

You should check out, if you haven't already, Vado's new CD. It's called Slime Flu. It's really dope, has that Harlem/Dipset type of flow, but he can rap much better than anyone on Dipset, except maybe Juelz.

Also, you ever listen to Reks?

I may or may not have heard it through illicit sources.
It's cool. I know where I can find it ahead of time too, I just choose to wait til the official release date so I know that I am up to date on the exact tracklist. Anywho, is the album like the good ol Kanye with College Dropout/Late Registration mold?

It's a combo of the old with the new. I really don't know how else to describe it. I like it a lot though
