2009 SF Giants Thread

I don't think Sadowski equated to us losing this one at all. I think the proper equation for this one is probably moreso..

Lee + SF Offense = Giants loss.
I did not say that Sadowski was the reason.

Super offense + great pitcher > SF offense + Sadowski means what it means. I do not blame anybody. SF offense (our usual one) + Sadowski combination is not enough to beat PHI.

Word.
Ive said all year that Randy should have been shipped out as Adres Torres is a younger, faster, better fielder, who may not hit Randy's .290 BA.

W/e though, the Giants win again, and I say.

SIGN TIMMY to a lifetime contact ASAP!!!!!!
He is crazy-special!
O_O

Yeah this is Randy's last year as starter for sure. Maybe even as a Giant. Great clubhouse guy but with Nate and Andres - his time has come it seems.

Timmy....

One thing this team needs is a good hitting outfielder...Our best OF lineup, if all healthy is.

RF: Nate Schierholtz -- Deserves his shot. Terrific Terrific defender.
CF: Arron Rowand --- Overpaid mediocre vet who will continue to play regardless.
LF: Andres Torres --- Journeyman and only should play because cometition is just not good.

The others...

Fred Lewis --- Tired of him. His bat has regressed, and his defense sucks.
Randy Winn --- Contact hitter, no power, little speed, zero arm. His time has passed.

Heck, Barry Bonds even if signed today would probably be our most productive offensive OF'er!

I honestly can't get over how good this team has been this year with a worthless outfield, nothing from 2B or SS, a lame manager (Why is Molina still cean-up?), and Sabean at the helm.
:p

Amazing game today!!! Really enjoyed watching!!

Zito has been good as of late. It is time to recognize it.

Freddy was solid and it really nice to have a .300 hitter at 2B. I am sure that his singles and doubles will help us a lot. May be even more than Garko's power.

Yeah I think tonight, we will win simply because of Cain. The question is now who is our 5th starter? They sent Sadowski down.

So right now it's

Cy
Zito
Cain
Sanchez
?

There's a article on SFGiants.com about the possibility of picking up a experienced starter off the waiver wire. Something like a Arroyo or Bannister.

I would really be happy picking up Arroyo. He would probably have a nice turn-around pitching at AT&T instead of his cheapie home-run park.

I am so tired of all the vets on this team.

Molina is the WORST cleanup hitter in baseball. I cannot WAIT until Posey shows up in the show to unseat Benji.

Rentaria is awful and isn't even decent in the field...I would perfer a cheap Omar Vizquel/Velez platoon.

Still in the WC despite how awful most of the offense is. So I cannot complain at all.

Unfortunately, Posey is at least 1 season away from MLB. It seems like he is not ready for AAA yet. However, Molina has to go. He is so slow and he cannot make any decent contact anymore. Just let him go after this season.

Renteria is disgusting. He is old. Very expensive. Cannot hit. Cannot defend. And has 2 more years left on his contract. Enjoy it, SF fans .

Freddy is pretty solid. You can see that he is a quality and smart hitter. I think that he has 3 good years left in him.

The fact of the matter is, the 2 aforementioned vets aren't the only reasons we're not winning on the road. And that is what is going to kill us eventually in this playoff race. Even Cain and Lincecum have been vulnerable on the road.

Giving up 4 runs in a complete game from Ace2 to a pretty stacked lineup in a bandbox of a park is nothing on the pitcher. Especially when you have MULTIPLE chances to score more in great offensive situations...

Lince and Cain both have sub 2.50 ERAs. Home and road combined. They get competent offense, and they remain unbeatable.

There was to many squandered opportunities by the team tonight. Most of which fall on Benji's fat sluggish shoulders. Or Rowand. Or Rent.

Until Lince and Cail start giving up some 6 runs in 2 innings I am not going to put any blame on them.

Awful game tonight.

I was not referring to tonight's game alone. I was referring to our complete 21-32 road record.

Read that too....Not this year, IMO.
Maybe later?

And the comments of that article are mind-numbingly terrible. Makes for an entertaining read "Tim uses SANDPAPER!" lol

After a great win tonight, I really hope Joe Martinez makes a triumphant return to the mound.
Also wish it could have come in front of the home fans, but not everything can be perfect.

A quick side-note.
The new guy, Waldis Joaquin! It may have been my eyes only, but he seemed to have a 98MPH fastball with explosive downward movement! I still think it was just me hyping a potential prospect, but his fastball looked devastating!

GO DODGERS!

sorry had to do it.. Dodger fan here muah! I am jealous of your pitching staff though. Lincecum/Cain > Billingsley/Kershaw...
