De'Aaron Fox Traded to Spurs for Zach Lavine, three first round picks

If that pick does not convey THIS YEAR - which it will almost certainly not - it converts to two seconds. Unless they sneak into the playoffs this year (LOL) it's two seconds.
The fact that this CHA pick won’t end up being a FRP makes this a loser deal IMO.

If the KINGS had a reasonable shot at top pick in 2025, then I’d see it differently.

But a soon to be 30-year old, defense deficient Lavine and two FRP’s (destined to be outside the lottery) for De’Aaron Fox? Sorry, but I’m not seeing the excitement.

Yes, I realize there were additional players and 2nd round picks involved in the deal, but those aren’t the key pieces. It’s really Fox for Lavine and 2 non-lottery FRP’s.

Buzzkill trade for me. Definitely nothing to get excited over.

There's really no point in Keegan Murray exerting any effort on defense. If the other 4 players on the court with him are Lavine, Monk, DeRozan, and Sabonis then teams are going to be able to do what they want anyway. He might as well let players just get by him since that's what the others will be doing.
I think you're underrating how bad the defense was with Fox and Monk out there. 26th last count. Can't see it getting much worse in the interim haha.

Finally had to turn off the stream. Ham is Ham and the other dude blaming the front office for not being able to put a superteam around Fox was just too much. He's out there claiming that "Cam Johnson was not going to fix this" but somehow blames the front office for not finding the magic beans that turn into a player way better than Cam Johnson? I can't even.
Yeah, the other dude (Kyle Madsen I believe) is a Warriors fan, that’s all you need to know about him

Spurs won this deal though. Crazy they kept their young guys and still lots of picks … Spurs should make another move now, can easily get John Collins for Barnes or Johnson for a pick or 2. Fox-Castle-Vassell-Collins-Wemby starting 5 pretty legit & can grow together.
They were never not going to. If LaVine can stay healthy and keep it up, there might be some people wondering how the Kings got a stash of picks with him. Lets see.

I was going to make a "I'll wait until sactowndog weighs in on this" joke, but he beat me too the punch by weighing in on it in typical sactowndog fashion!

That being said, I'm certainly not wow'd by this
I wanted help in the front court. Cidy is averaging a whole 3.2 minutes a game and 1.3 pts a game. Some of you complained about Smith.

this trade does nothing to improve our currently poor defense which just got worse, does not balance our roster in any way, nor does it provide any near term draft help.

But of course you all would cheer any deal Monte makes.

they did and they can thank being the second luckiest franchise and klutch for that. I’ll root for HB and Fox as individuals but will be actively rooting against that franchise

So as it stands right now, we look about like this:

Monk/Carter
LaVine/Ellis
DeRozan
Murray/Lyles
Sabonis

With Len, Cissoko, Colby, McDermott, and Crowder on the bench, and Isaac, Mason, and Crawford on two-ways

We definitely have room to elevate Isaac if we don't do anything else and the top eight in the lineup seem pretty obvious. I'm not really sure if Cissoko is going to be worth anything or not, but he's got another year on his deal for us to figure that out.

we dropped in salary with this, do you know where we are on that?

Ok then why was 90% of the board dissing people in June when we were throwing out trades for Lavine involving barnes/huerter? I like Lavine but the switch up is insane and we can’t start monk/lavine/derozan
I honestly have no idea. I always liked lavine. Add the fact he's having a career year, add the fact that we normally get completely owned when trading, got 3 frp got the shooting we need. Got rid of a player that was killing us and got a player under contract.

Like what's not to like here.

Now yes I'm warming on getting a real pf instead of deebo but that can be addressed if things don't work out. We now have a legit 3 level scoring threat

I would agree on the part about not balancing the roster and that defense didn't get better( didn't get worse either, Fox was atrocious defensively this year imo). But only if Monte doesn't make any moves to address those things, he still has time, let's wait before complaining
