De'Aaron Fox Traded to Spurs for Zach Lavine, three first round picks

I’m not a fan of the return we got.

The CHA 1st is a fake 1st that the FO can use in headlines to make themselves look good but it’s just that… a fake 1st that is really 2 2nds. I really hope at the very least the 2027 SAS and 2031 MIN 1sts are unprotected.

The roster is still unbalanced at this point, and I shudder to think about how bad our defense will be when we have Monk, LaVine, DeRozan, & Sabonis in the starting lineup. Lets see if Monte has anything else cooked up to balance the roster before Thursday’s deadline.
they need to trade Deebo now or in the offseason

So as far as the picks are concerned, Kings get:

Effectively, then, Kings get three second round picks for this year, one 1st round SAS pick in 2027 (probably going to be very low), two second rounders in 2028 and a 1st rounder from MIN six years from now. Does that sum it up correctly?

The thing is, LaVine has :crosses fingers: been healthy and is putting up his typical all star productivity. I would think his value is up from when we were all arguing about him the last season or so.
He’s shooting above 40% from three at volume. Considering how awful we’ve been from the perimeter, he’s going to improve spacing a lot.

Still digesting. Not sure if I like it and now Huerter’s money is gone so there likely won’t be any more trades to balance the roster which this trade does not do.

I guess we may see DeMar moved

I also dont see where we get our pick swap back and how we couldn’t get a real 2025 first rounder in the deal

I wouldve preferred the Vassell, Sochan, 3 first rounders I was preparing to be angry about to be honest. I like LaVine but I’m not comfortable he’ll stay healthy

We’ll see but when it’s fully digested I don’t think I’ll be happy with the return. Though I’m atleast glad we can move on from Fox

The first round picks are a joke
Spurs first will be late 20’s
Charlotte will be seconds
Minnesota who knows if we’re alive in 2031
Spurs are dependent on Wemby being healthy. Remeber Yao?

Yes, multiple 2nds a bummer.

31 is 1st year aliens will run the league and Ant will be on the Lakers.

I'm so f'ing tires of havimg a team that cam't shoot for sht.

Sure. But I'm of the opinion that Keon should be starting. He just should. His impact is enormous. And unlike Fox, LaVine ain't running point, so there's no sending Monk back to the bench. Carter's not close to ready, so Monk is now your full-time starting PG. And yeah, LaVine can flex for some minutes at the 3, but Keon's not starting with those two guys. Monk/LaVine/DeRozan is a dangerously poor defensive trio.
the answer is moving deebo. If I had to guess they will hold on to him for salary purposes and package him in a bigger deal in the summer

I think sharing an offensive load on the Kings will contribute to better health.. hopefully.. We really need a backup for Sabonis and another 3/4

We have to see what happens rotation wise. LaVine is actually historically around Fox's level when running pick and roll so both can easily run point. Remember LaVine started off as more of a PG.

Statistically, LaVine is playing out of his mind this year, just need him healthy.

This trade is basically Fox for LaVine, 2 1st round picks, and a bunch of 2nd rounders.

Honestly, not bad at all because I don't think there were many suitors for Fox. Doesn't really seemed like any other team was serious about him... should kinda tell you about his value around the league.

“The Spurs were going to kill the deal if Stephon Castle was included.”
To be fair, the Spurs completely made out like bandits here. They got Fox and only sent out Collins and one first that *might* be great, and a bunch of only OK picks. But it's just that we didn't get fleeced because we managed to get LaVine out of it. The Bulls are rebuilding and wanted to get off that salary, great. They didn't get a whole ton of stuff except salary relief though.

Plus we have no idea what the market really is now after the Mavs took a sledgehammer to it last night.

Had to be done.. Fox only destination was the Spurs.. Don't know what his value looks like if they don't try to trade him before deadline.

The Spurs had to give up the Bulls pick this season which isn’t nothing. Their main backup guard is now going to be Jordan McLaughlin apparently.
