FIRE MIKE BROWN

Like would Jordi want his first head coaching job to be because his boss got fired for only finishing 10 games over .500 and getting bounced in the play-in from a conference that had 11 teams .500 or better?

I mean I have said I think NYN is going to be a tough first gig, but holy hell. That's like how when we fired Adelman for having a rotting husk of the golden years squad and brought Muss in with basically the expectation we'd be a WCF team with a coaching change.

I see. So Kings ownership is not unhappy with Mike Brown, but Mike Brown's performance this season has not sat well with Kings ownership. I believe this is called the Redheaded Hack Distinction in journalism parlance.
Have you read the article they are referring to? I only have the tweet to go by but all that says is that ownership is not happy with the results of the season. That’s pretty benign and not necessarily aimed at Brown.

It also doesn't specifically say they are happy with him, does it? I refuse to read his garbage, so I honestly don't know. I'm not giving him any clicks.

He has a LONG history of saying nothing other than "can confirm" and I think it is obvious that the whole organization is disappointed with missing the PO. Where's the news there? He also can insinuate things that he can back down on later if he likes.

So, did he actually say anything worthwhile or just throw out a couple hundred words of lettuce, croutons, and dressing?

I don’t know, I haven’t read the article. The only thing I’ve read is the tweet that according to Ham, DLo and Kc was taken out of context.

I am of the opinion that Ham is on this board……I wont Say any names because that’s not fair but some forum members posts seem eerily close to his thoughts and writing. But then again, I think Jimmer is one of the greatest Kings ever.

If Ham is on this board it must suck for him to be the running joke here going on a decade now. Even reddit and twitterX have largely stopped carrying his water as if he is an actual insider or offers intelligent basketball takes. One can only hope that sooner or later Monte will pull his press credentials.

Lost a lot of respect for him after the 2022 draft. To conclude so much based on assumptions is wild. Then when Brendan suggested Keegan could guard SFs Ham laughed at him.

Aside from bad takes he really seemed to just be stirring drama because he was mad they didn't give him a place to run his podcast live after the draft in the arena and I am pretty sure he even complained about the food in the green room. Like who tf does he think he is?

And then he started promoting the Monte is going to get fired for Wes line, I think. Shadow GM conspiracies and other nonsense, all centered around what a bad pick Keegan was. lol.

Nunes needs to get away from him. Talented young writer with a real passion for Kings ball, but he's hitched his wagon to a complete hack in Ham.
Don't know if it's the same as it was a few years ago because thankfully the algos have stopped feeding me ham, but they would just haze the hell out of him when he was the only guy with a remote clue talking it really drove me nuts that they would treat him like that. It's all part of the fantasy that he's a big shot hosting Sports Center.

Now is not the time to fire the coach. The organization needs stability, not a turnstile at the most important leadership position.

Remember, it is only December 2. There is a long, long ways to go in this season.

I need to know more about why the players aren't executing their assignments as mentioned in the other thread. If they've tuned Brown out then there aren't a lot of options. If it is because roster assembly that needs to be corrected ASAP.

And we've seen teams who have tuned out their coach. More than probably any fan base in the last 15 years. This team ain't that. Not yet. Also, Brown is as much of a politician as he is a coach, even in his worst years he's probably never truly lost a team like some coaches do.

before considering to get rid of Brown, I think it's important to understand that the foundation is broken and until that gets replaced and built up, this is not the way.
Yeah, the strategic foundation. Hopefully this is as simple as players not understanding, because when it comes to this defensive strategy in particular we've been fooled twice. This is year 3. It's been the same story with the exception of a brief period at the end of last season when the team played like Jordi had his Nets playing the other night. It could all be a total coincidence but man, that's a hard one to believe.

when I'm talking about foundation, I'm referring to the players. This trio of players will not get much done in my opinion but I still think it's fair to let them play this season out and see where they stand in the off season before making the changes that are necessary. Fox extension looming, it's going to be very tricky if you have Sabonis and DeRozan on payroll too with a sub par ball club.

Agreed!

But warming up to the idea despite myself. Our defensive gameplan is straight up ugly and costing us winnable games.

Hopefully we get it together sooner than later, because I'd hate to get back on that coaching carousel for another decade. Mike Brown is still better than 85% of the jokes we've had as HC since Rick.

We also need to consider that Vivek will ONLY get excited about people with the GS connection. Firing Mike could easily open the door to Mark Jackson. I'm not sure my ever more tenuous fandom could take it.
