What an odd game. Fox barely scored in the first half of the game, Sabonis dominates but then gets in foul trouble and doesn’t do much after. Murray has his best game in a bit and then bricks 30 threes in garbage time. Smith and Barnes. Energizer Bunny TD makes an appearance. Hali didn’t play to his standard. Lots of threes. Math gets fouled ever Indiana possession. Wild stuff

Hey, is this the time and place to put these nuggets?

Hali needs to have an imprint on the game
Hali has empty stats
Hali's good, but if he wants to be a star, when teams focus their attack on him in pick and roll defensively either by switching or blitz, swinging over to a shooter is as @Tetsujin said, Rondo level. Now, Rondo with a great step back 3 is really good, but what you saw Mathurin do is what star types do. They take the ball and get it into the teeth of the defense. They'll be a great 1/2 combo for a long time but Mathurin has the tools to be a go to.

Unfortunately that whole setup pretty much puts the Pacers into the same situation as the Kings were last season. It can probably work with a good coach but your dominant scoring guard having to split possessions with another stat-filling guard isn't really the ideal way to run an offense, especially when both haven't really shown much on the defensive end of the floor.

Yeah but if they build the right team around them it can work. Haliburton being a good shooter off the ball can make the difference. I get that they've shocked some people and are winning but they better not blow this by not setting themselves up for the long term. We've seen the Kings do the same thing, when you trade your all star, go all the way along that rebuild and don't fudge it for short term crap. They need to get what they can for Turner and get that cap nice and soft. That could very well set them up as a contender in a few years depending on what they do in FA.

In place of who? As odd as it would have sounded at the start of the season, you can't take Metu out of the rotation with how well he's played with the bench unit.
Len should play in spots, when you need his size. Just like Okpala should, when his length and defense is a premium. Don't necessarily have to be in the regular rotation, to play when they could help in a matchup

I think KZ should be a staple since this team needs him on the wing. The backup C should be based on that game. If Metu is going and the opposing team is like the Pacers and/or the offense is flowing, great. If the other team is crushing the Kings inside because they have an Ayton, or strong pick and roll guard, then size time. Also, Len is better at being a backup Sabonis than Metu. Metu in that dribble hand off set is awful. Metu in pick and roll? Totally different player. Metu when used right is a plus but that's very much dependent on the opponent and what plays the Kings are running offensively. The Pacers are a team that has a C and a bunch of players similar to Metu backing him up.
