From my post 3 weeks ago:
re: Mitchell -
His stance on Sac/Seattle is questionable enough, but after hearing him talk for 10 seconds, it is abundantly clear that he's not a good match for the team.

Go listen to Michael Malone talk - then listen to Mitchell.
Personality means a LOT when matching a coach to a team.

Mitchell sounds like a salesman, when this team needs a blue-collar get-to-work kind of guy.
Glad to see the Kings go and get a blue-collar get-to-work kind of guy like Dave Joerger.

I would be shocked if Demarcus has a problem with DJ.
Seems like a good fit, personality-wise.

..... eagerly anticipating any blurb RE: Cuz and Joerger communicating.

Obviously it's the offseason, so Cuz is doing his thing, but I'm quite interested on how our franchise centerpiece feels about the hire.
Midseason we were talking about Cuz and the coach after Karl. Joerger is a defense-first adaptable guy, and that's what everyone was calling for. If it doesn't work (showing no progress) with Cousins as our centerpiece then I hope we will be ready to move on. Hopefully it does though, so fingers crossed.

The players have no more excuses, the time for excuses is done we got a new arena, proven coach now it's up to Vlade to get a couple nice solid piece's and it's time for Cuz to take us to the playoffs.

Beautiful!!! Had no idea it was official

I'm more than elated because I know what this can do for us. Not only that, but we didn't even give the media a smidgen of a chance to discuss some sort of JOKE of a coaching search soap opera like so many originally thought

So glad we didn't drag this out and I'm so glad that everyone including Coach Joerger, handled themselves professionally. I don't feel like we were used for leverage or any of that garbage, and no one could focus on Kevin Mchale withdrawing from consideration for too long.

See what happens the moment we remove ourselves from the Indian burial ground?! :p Go KINGS!!

Absolutely thrilled with this hire! Our new coach is young, straight shooter, blue collar meat and potatoes type of guy!

It will be interesting to see how Cuz get along with the new coach. I personally think this could be the sort of relationship that Cuz has with Malone.

Season 2015-2016 hasn't offically finished but I am already looking forward to 2016-2017 but first, bring on the draft and free agency.

So Vlade knows from the backchannel that Joerger has interest but is locked into a relationship. Kings need every asset they have, so trading a draft pick to get their coach is an expensive proposition. Everyone knows the relationship back in Memphis is on the rocks, and Vlade figures they have another option in mind. With the conclusion foregone. Memphis knows that if they deal with the Kings they can at least get a draft pick out of the deal. Instead, Vlade publicly announces the start of a very long and deliberate coaching search and then starts conducting interviews. Watching the clock tick on the option they want, Memphis caves before it's too late to have a chance at him and fires Joerger. Kings swoop in, keep their assets, and get exactly who they needed. Joerger, two days after being fired, swoops into Nebraska, picks his family up on a (Kings) private jet and doubles his salary. Win-win for Kings and Joerger.

Even if we don't see immediate results I feel this is the guy that should be here thru his contract no matter what, even if it comes down to him vs Cuz (hope it doesn't) this time the FO must side with the coach. Its hard to win in the NBA and I don't expect Joerger to work a miracle and get us into the playoffs next year(would love to see it though!). We tried going all in for a fast 8 seed and it didnt work and is a flawed long term plan in general.

Keeping Joerger long term would help build back our rep around the league tremendously, heck just being able to land him has gone over great with everyone. He truely seems like a rich man's Malone. He does everything Malone did ie accountability, ability to motivate, attention to detail, and a fiery passion to win etc except he is a better X's and O's guy.

All goodies already mentioned, let's not forget the financial savvy displayed here.

Dave Joerger 4 mil

Price list of coaches hired this year:
Tom Thibodeau 10 mil
Scott Brooks 7 mil
Luke Walton 5 mil
Tyronn Lue 3 mil
Kenny Atkinson 2.5mil

George Karl next year 5 mil

Wasn't George Karl $5 mil for the final 2 years of his contract? Spreading out Karl's payment over 2 years helps when you have to pay 2 coaches. :D
If I understood properly, Karl is owed 5 mil for each of the last 2 years, with option for Kings to buy out his final year for 1.5 mil (which they will obviously do). So 6.5 mil left to pay for a mistake.

Not a mistake but a good hire that didn't work out. When he came on board it was a good hire. Hindsight doesn't count.
