The Bulls have discussed deals with multiple NBA teams on Gasol, but one discussion lingered on Wednesday, league sources told The Vertical’s Wojnarowski and Chris Mannix: Gasol and Tony Snell to the Sacramento Kings for Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore and a lowering of the lottery protections on the 2016 first-round pick that Sacramento owes the Bulls.

The pick is protected Nos. 1-10, but the Bulls and Kings discussed lowering the protections further to give Chicago a better chance of obtaining use of the pick in 2016, league sources told The Vertical.

The Kings reached out to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, too, league sources said, because the Sixers have the right to swap picks with the Kings’ on the 2016 pick. The Kings wouldn’t be able to complete the deal involving the pick with Chicago unless they could reach an agreement with Philadelphia. The Sixers were preparing to ask for a further sweetener to allow the Kings to move on a deal with Chicago, league sources said.

LOL we would have to give MORE to the 76ers to do this trade. You can't even make this up anymore. We are a train wreck.

It's a win-now move. A frontcourt of Pau/DMC would be pretty sweet.
It would absolutely slaughter WCS playing time and his development is far more important than making a unrealistic playoff run with a guy that's like 35 and heading elsewhere next season and won't even be able to help us by the time we make the playoffs.

Reasonable price? Have you taken a look at his contract? Kevin Love is the ultimate empty stats guy and plays zero defense. He is a good spot up shooter but for a guy who only plays one side of the floor. We are a terrible defensive team and you want to add Love huh. Now thats the end of that story.
You honestly would rather have Rudy Gay + filler over Kevin Love long term? Kevin Love is 27 is set in a long term contract at 22 mil per year, which is not outrageous in the last when considering the salary cap leap next year (players like Harrison Barnes will be asking for 18 annually). Kevin Love is an excellent rebounder, a very good passer, a smart player, and a very good shooter. I don't have any issue with building a team around Cousins and Love. Yes you need to add pieces on the defensive end (we already have one in WCS and our back court D is not affected by Love), but not adding a talent of Love's level is somewhat ludicrous. The two players better than him on the Cavs are both top 15 talent so I don't have any issue with how he is playing at the moment there.

Pau has a player option for next season so I very much doubt he stays past the remaining 30 games.

Burning a few assets for a 30 game rental.
Koufos is not an asset and the pick we'd give with the improvement in Pau with this poor draft class is also not an asset. Ben can be an asset with another team, but not us. He is clearly not developing with us. He turned from abysmal his rookie season to below average his second, to bad this season. He has the traits to develop into a good role player, but I don't see it here. He has developed no consistency in any part of his game. And Tony Snell would certainly be no downgrade defensively.

If Pau can at least buy into the last stretch of the season and try instead of being a drama queen about it, I'd do it. Pau/Cousins is a perfect combo and if he is indeed willing to buy into this season, he'd be a great mentor for WCS.

Are you kidding me? You realize he's gone in 2 months, right? You also realize that we would not only have to lose the pick EVEN if we don't make the playoffs, but ALSO have to give the 76ers a little extra, just to make it burn worse.
First, it's Pau and Snell not Pau alone.
Second, Pau has player option for next season.
Third, Rondo has the same 30 games left of his contract with us. Not making a playoff now is like instant goodbye to Rajon.
So you get Pau for the last hurrah! If he stays, good.
If he leaves, that means we didn't make a playoff spot. So most likely, Rajon would leave as well.
So now we got 19M cash to sign another star.

Keeping Rajon and Cuz is more important than WCS playing time. So you get as many good player to make final good run for a playoff spot. Willie's skillset is different from Pau and DMC, the guy will get his minutes. Willie is closer to Kosta on skillset than to Pau. So were just adding diverse skillset that will not negate WCS's skills.

Keeping Rondo is not even 1/100th as important as WCS finding a average PG who plays zero defense is not difficult.

ding ding ding! which is why I am hoping this trade does not go down. The team is kidding themselves if they think they can make the playoffs now all of a sudden and come out and start playing defense and play winning basketball consistently. It's not worth it.

Oh boy, and if no one comes, we can spend that 19M on maxing out Rondo and look forward to having absolutely NO assets going forward. No draft picks, check. No young players other than WCS, check. But hey, we gave the fans the chance at the playoffs while being 9 games below .500 at the all-star break, woo hoo!

And why the hell are we trading Ben + KK for something that still does not address the biggest problem on the team, the damn SG position?! Snell isn't going to play SG and that just means a log jam behind Rudy and Casspi.

We are 9 games under .500 and our biggest problem right now is defense. You want to remove our BEST defender from the starting lineup JUST to play someone who is WORSE than anyone else on our team at defense and ESPECIALLY at guarding the pick n roll? You can't be serious.

So it would be Rondo/Casspi/Gay/Pau/DMC with Collison/Belinelli/Snell/Acy/WCS off the bench. All to try and get the 8th seed, to then fire Karl in the offseason, to then lose Rondo and Pau in free agency...

Snell is a SG/SF kind of tweener. Don't pad you're argument too much just to support your cause.

There are 3 teams that are just 4-5 loses away from giving us a spot in the playoffs. 30 games left to play.
