  • Are you Kidding? This is C-Webb! I never doubted him for a second. He's been our MVP this year.

  • He surprised me big stats+clutch shots!I never thought we would be 30-13 with #4 in the offense.

  • He's better than last year(barely) I'm not sure hes durable, + he's not 1/2 the player he was.

  • He's too selfish. The offense is better when he is not in it. He can't play D or Rebound!

Allright it's halfway thru the season so I thought Id see what everyone thinks about C-Webb so far. Maybe none of these completely represent your feelings on Chris but hey, no poll is perfect right? This poll is gonna be private I'm just interested to say what we think as a collective.

One interesting note: we haven't lost a game this season w/o Webber.
Yeah. He's been great this season. But, to lead Kings to the next level, I hope he passes the ball when his chance of shooting is not as good, and drives to the basket more. Is he afraid of being injured again so that he always picks jumpers?

The problem with private polls is you don't know if its Kings fans answering, or Laker fans, or Spurs fans, etc.

The benefit of a public poll is that if people are going to vote, everyone will see who they are.

;)

For the record, Chris Webber has so far exceeded expectations that it's almost beyond belief.

1. He doesn't always pick jumpers.
2. Considering the fate of MOST players who undergo the same surgery as Webber, a little discretion wouldn't surprise me - although in this case I think you're totally wrong.

C-Webb is having an all-star calibur season....sure the Kings have been able to win without out, but his leadership and talent has propelled the Kings to their fare share of victories as well. If anything, the rest of the Kings should be willing to give the same kind of effort every night that they seem to give when C-Webb is not playing.

The most intersting thing is that C-Webb has lead the Kings this year to a record that is very similar to what the Kings had lst year a the same point. The fact that they are under the radar a bit will only help them - not hurt them.

Man it was hard to make poll options less than 100 characters. I know we might get some outsiders... but I thought a private poll would let people be more honest. I wanted to include the surgery in there but there wasn't enough room!

Webber has been better than I expected, but he's still inconsistent and just a big enigma from game to game. Against the Spurs he lays an egg and stinks up the joint, his usual horrible transition defense. Against the Rockets he tears up the place and is Mr Clutch, then the next game he doesn't play. For brief while there he started to look steady, but that dissapeared again. It's not just the hurt ankle from the Spurs game, its a matter of him playing the mental game right. Against the Spurs he lost the mental game.

Actually, the public polls hold people accountable. Since they're identifiable, they can't post negative responses just for the heck of it. AND any responses from Laker fans, etc. won't unnecessarily skew the results.

But hey - it's your poll.

:D

Webber wasn't alone in the Spurs loss. I could have sworn there were a bunch of other guys on the court at the same time.

Hopefully they'll have enough pride to post how they feel as well like these guys did^. I don't think any of us can say we are 100% right until further down the road anyway.

I just have a lot of problems with creating ANOTHER thead that will invariably end up bashing Webber. But that's just me. I voted and I had my comment, so as long as people remain civil that's as much involvement as I'm going to have.

:(

I tried to put that in there^^ but it wouldn't fit, I had to settle on 30-13 and hope people got it.

Yea nobody ever talks about that when they bash the Kings or C-WEbb in particular.

i voted for the first choice...although i wanted to vote for the second choice...and i would have had it no mentioned

"I never thought we would be 30-13 with #4 in the offense."

GO CWEBB!!

Yes, but this poll isn't about them. And I mean the last Spurs game, not the blowout. I was just about on the "Webb's back!" bandwagon, but then he started playing his 'dumb' game again. Too many shots, too many outside shots and just reaching in transition on defense. That's my biggest pet peeve, him just reaching at guards on the break and picking up worthless fouls.

swish - We will agree to disagree. Apparently nothing Webb does will be good enough for you and that's fine.

iheartBrad - No, it hasn't started because I don't think Webber needs me to stick up for him. I think his over-all performance this year more than speaks for itself. But I recognize some people will never feel that way.

That's fine. :)

I think your right, he still seems to press sometimes but I think he's better this year than last at easing back(sometimes he still doesn't though). Plus I think he was more than just a little gimpy in that Spurs game, he looked like he was in some real pain...add to that he was playing against Timmy and it was a recipe for disaster.

::looks at poll::

Where's the " we are winning, guys are producing, who cares about everything else" option? I vote for that. :)
I know. It's tough writing poll options. I was gonna do something like that, but I figured everyone had some kind of expectation for how Chris would do this year, especially after the way last year ended... and it's been long enough now to gauge if he has or hasn't met those expectations. I definately like your opinion, I should have put that one in after all.

What are the teams that we have played without Webber? Only TWolves were a good team rest of them, if I remember correctly were, really poor teams.

Given that C-Webb, a year removed from major knee surgery, is part of the debate about who belongs on the all-star team, you'd have to say he's been a tremendous surprise. While it's true that some nights his lack of movement has hurt the defense and that he can be a ball-stopper on offense, it's also true that he's re-established himself as a force in the NBA. It seems like he has, as promised, been more of a leader.

I think a lot of the heat that is directed at Webber should rightfully be directed at Adelman, whose job it is to occasionally remind C-Webb that he's on the floor with four other good scorers and, by the way, don't forget to get on the block now and then.

All that aside, for C-Webb to be where he is now after where he was at the end of last season, it's very encouraging. Let's just hope his knees hold up for the long haul.

thedofd - Thank you. I think that's probably the most honest assessment of Chris Webber I've seen. Not bashing, not homer - just a pretty good summation of the man who wears #4 for the Sacramento Kings.

Well done.

C-Webb Fan Since Golden State

I even have his rookie card .... C-Webb could do no wrong in my eyes.

I'm really glad to see him smiling and having fun out there.

With age and all the hobbling around, acceptance is a big part of his role with our King's and like ALL OF US ... he can be stubborn at times.

He's still a BIG ASSET to this team and we wouldn't be where we are without him.

Minn record 24-20 away also without Peja
NJ record 18-26 at home
Denver record 19-25 at home
New Orleans record 8-35 at home
Charlote record 9-32 at home

Soooo 2 of the 5 have the worst records in the NBA the other 2 are under .500 and we played all of them at home. And the only team with a decent record we also beat without everyones favorite son Pedja. By the way we are 2-1 without Peja all 3 games on the road and all 3 against teams over .500

I'd go for this one. Not taking any credit out from Webb: he's been great this season, but there is still some room for improvement. (hehe... I'm greedy.) I'd like to see him leading this team to win it all.
