Jackson was the obvious best SF available at the time, in my opinion. I could make a case for Anunoby, but there is some risk involved with his injury, and he still has a questionable three pt shot. So I like the Jackson pick. He's one of those hustle guys that's constantly moving, and he's also a gym rat who is constantly working on his game. That's actually a trait of every player the Kings took in this draft. They all have high BBIQ, and are good character guys. All four are also very unselfish players.
Sometimes it's better to have a less athletic but highly skilled player with a good work ethic, than a freak athlete who likes to sit at home and play video games on his newly bought 100 inch curved screen TV. I think everyone will like Jackson once they see him play. I doubt he'll ever be a star in the league, but I can easily see him as a solid starter or backup player that can get you 12 to 15 pt's a game, pull down 6 boards and play decent to good defense. That may be all the Kings need from him. He's a team first player, and that's what the team needs.
If he becomes more than that, then we've struck gold where none was expected. By the way, I love Frank Mason. I watched Kansas this year just to watch Mason play, not Jackson. Jackson has the superior upside. That goes without saying. But this year I thought Mason was the best player on that team. Just like I thought Luke Kennard was the best player on the Duke team. No offense intended toward Tatum.
