Successful Scenario

Due to Houston and Sacramento being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Sacramento had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Would you do it?

I'd consider it if houston swapped 1st rounders with us. What this trade does:
It gives us a good backup PG off the bench.
Swift makes us more athletic.
It leaves us without a center

What it does for Houston:
Makes them better defensively(Ron is a better fit for JVG than TMac)
Gets rid of TMac
Gets rid of Swift(who JVG apparently hates)

no i wouldn't do it. tmac has recurring back problems. even tho he is top 10 talent... if he gets injured badly, you've dropped 2 good trade pieces miller/artest and end up w/ junk. u get the stro show, luther head and a injured 2 guard. i'lll passsssssssssssssssssssss on this one.

Gotta agree with KMart23... TMac isn't playing now; there is no guarantee he'll play next year. As good as he is, he isn't worth giving up MIller and Artest for.

When one of your reasons to justify a trade is "gets rid of TMac" you have to seriously rethink your position, IMHO.

Yeah I have the same feeling as you two kinda. I just wanted to see everyone else's position on the trade. It seems kind of like with TMac's back and personal problems that he's fallen out of favor in houston, but how do we know that those problems wouldn't follow him to Sacto?

However:
If that pick was a very good pick, I'd be really tempted. The possibility of getting Aldridge or Ty Thomas would be awesome because I think they could solve our PF problem.

Nope.

The name of the game now is pair a SECOND star type player with Artest, not burn him up to go get somebody different. That's just churning.

Get a second guy. Burn whoever you have to NOT named Artest. Then let's talk.

No, I wouldn't do this deal. T-Mac's great, but is too risky with his likely future back problems now. Plus, I absolutely love Ron Artest, and is not even at full shape with himself or the team yet.

2 skilled slow big men? hell yes, especially when they have value. it's not like you can pluck skilled big men off a apple tree here. how many are available you can just sign? houston would take that deal anyday. you get a former Defensive player of the year and a skilled center to boot while getting rid of a player that has nagging injuries.

This deal reminds me of what happens in prison, and the Kings are definitely not the givers.

I've never been a T-Mac fan and Stromile has been disappointing this season. For that we give up Brad AND Ron, and still don't get a center? Pass.

I think we also want Vitaly around until the trade deadline next season where he will be more valuable as an expiring contract along with Corliss.

Exactly my thoughts... we need 1 more star to win the gold... I dunno how we are going to swing that... but its going to have to come at the PF/C position. I love brad to death and would hate to loose him.. but if we cant find an all star PF, we need to find an ALL star center. And then brad either goes to the PF or is involved in the trade... sad
