The Wrestling Thread~

The thigh slap on the corner forearm a bit too much but both that and whatever her finisher is (they called it a knee but it looked like some sort of vertical enziguri) are sick. I think she could dial back some of the theatrics a smidge but not more than that and god damn license her a Maiden song instead of whatever that song they've stuck her with (literally may as well be AI prompted generic metal). But I'm all in.

To be fair, about 90-95% of professional wrestling finishing moves are "a bit too much" at the end of the day...
I was under the impression that Shawn and Trips hate when the thigh slaps are caught on camera and both her set up and finisher were blatantly on camera. Then again ostensibly NXT is for this.

The perfect finish for Roman Reigns in that he gets to keep his title and also doesn’t have to make any appearances until Summer Slam probably

Hot take: WWE signed Naraku to keep Iyo Sky.
I don’t think it was that hot of a take. They let go of a few of her close friends literally in the middle of their respective on-screen ongoing projects, so bringing EVIL in for a short run feels more like a redemption move. He’s not exactly a spring chicken like some of the younger Japanese wrestlers in AEW, and historically he’s never really fit the mold for a huge, long-term successful WWE run anyway.

What happened with Darkstate last night felt like colorism to me. I'm not prepared to say that it was colorism, but it felt like colorism.

Oh, was that today?
don’t worry, you didn’t miss anything.

The Becky-Sol match was fun enough I guess and the aforementioned IC Title bout was good if you enjoy Ethan Page but the three tag matches were boring/bad, feats of Montez Ford excepted. I guess that’s what happens you have one of these less than a week before a PLE/European tour.

In pure promotion health terms, this would be like if WCW bought WWE instead of the other way around (although neither company is exactly in a good place right now). It’ll be interesting to see what happens to the WWE/NOAH ‘partnership’ and the AEW/NJPW ‘working relationship’ now. (Also sorta shocked TK wasn’t the one buying out Bushiroad’s shares of NJPW given every single thing we know about him)
