[MLB] The “Sacramento” A’s Thread 2026

Nobody should be comparing him to Ohtani... but it looks like he recently pitched his first inning in rookie ball and struck out two with one hit allowed while he's 4 for 13 with a double, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored in his first three games in the field (well, 2 of those games were as DH and the third was I think his first ever start at 2B where he made 2 errors in the game). Humble beginnings but cool to see him both pitching and hitting now.

Chris and Stephen Caray trading off half innings like a radio booth lol

They should just do this every game instead of using Cavner

Trading Matt Olson in his prime and relatively cheaply doesn’t hurt as much when you accidentally draft Jim Thome a couple of years later

It also doesn't hurt that they got Shea Langeliers in the Matt Olson trade and he's somehow leading the AL in batting average right now and 5th in MLB in OPS. I also remember him being billed at the time as a potential Gold Glove defender behind the dish with decent power but a shaky hit tool and defense is now considered the weakest part of his game. You just never know with prospects.

Stefanik’s walk up song is Cult of Personality? I have no choice but to support a fellow CM Punk stan.

My god this home plate umpire getting absolutely destroyed by the ABS challenge system. He’s been wrong every single time haha

That three year span where Khrush Davis was hitting homers like Big Papi before he signed an extension and promptly forgot how to hit was possibly the most fun I’ve ever had watching baseball.

Watching him try to throw from the outfield was an adventure, but he found his niche with the A's as the "snack size" version of Frank Thomas and I agree, he's one of my all-time favorite Oakland A's. The way he stood up there at the plate like it was the first time anyone had put a bat in his hands, took that low effort no stride swing and still Krushed balls into the second deck, and then of course his signature salute to the dugout as he rounded third base... all iconic memories in a very good era for A's baseball. I miss watching that dude play.
