Just about as I had it, just didn't have Jamison on there (marion was in his place).

I posted Voisin's article about how Brad looks, etc. in the main forum. It's worth a read, IMHO...

Guard
-- Gilbert Arenas, Washington
-- Kirk Hinrich, Chicago
-- Joe Johnson, Atlanta

My Starting 5

PG: Gilbert Arenas
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: LeBron James
PF: Amare Stoudemire
C: Brad Miller

i think there gonna start chris paul, gilbert is really a scoring guard, i think they have enough fire power with lebron and dawyne, and i heard somewhere that krik hinrich had a leg injury.. i think on hoopshype.com. But i doubt gilbert will start, and i hope brad starts but i think they may go small, with amare or dwight at the 5

I'm surprised Chauncey Billups and Shawn Marion didnt make it.

My Starting 5:

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: Lebron JAmes
PF: Amare Stoudemire
C: Dwight Howard

remember - there is only one ball in the game and out of these 5 only Brad can be effective without it.

Um, LeBron and Wade are both good rebounding wing players, good off the ball defenders, and can at least stay with their man. Dwight Howard's a good shotblocker and rebounder. Amare, is up in the air.

That wouldn't be my starting 5 though.

Hinrich (Be fine with Paul, but Hinrich's a better shooter)
Joe Johnson
LeBron
Brand
Miller

Would be my starting 5.

You didn't understand my point. Who is "the man" on the team ?

For that particular line-up? Well, in that case, too many scorers. But just was pointing out that a few of those guys are significantly effective without the ball.

I don't deny that but here is my question - how do You split the minutes ? Who gets the ball with the game on the line ? Who is the primary option on the floor ?

carmelo won't be cut, hes been chopping it up with coach k, and i doubt miller will be cut. But hinrich will definitley be cut, he got injured. they dont need both shane and bowen, one of them will most likely be cut with kirk, and jamison, but it definitley wont be melo

Kirk got injured? When? I don't see him being left off if he's not. Be a surprise. Hinrich's a proven top 5 PG defensively, is a very good versatile scorer, and is a damn good passer. Good rebounder for a PG also. Overall he's a top 8 point-guard, and is still young with 3 seasons and 2 impressive playoff series under his belt.

Bowen/Battier aren't the same player. Battier's better offensively, bigger, younger, better rebounder, not as quick, more versatile defensively. Not as quick as Bowen or quite as good a defender man-to-man as Bowen though. I can see both of them making it.

Edit: ESPN still has Hinrich on the list of 15 on their bottom-line/ticker, nothing about it on the site too.

i don't know about you but when i look at that list of players, i see yet another disappointing outing for the team usa. out of those players, i would say hinrich is the most respectable for the opposing teams. wade, lebron will once again get shocked that the refs dare treat them like ordinary players.

on eof the refs had a meeting with the players telling them to watch out for ****syness in the olympics, and we have a great team this year, not just hinrich, who by the way reports are saying hes injured and will be cut

Moradi, where are you getting this? You still didn't answer that and haven't provided a link. ESPN or Real GM haven't had it anywhere, but have about the other cuts/injuries.

This is the latest on Hinrich, from the Chicago Herald:

Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich survived the first cut and will be part of the 15-member U.S. national team that heads to Asia in early August to compete in the FIBA World Championships.

But there was no celebration. Hinrich also learned of the death of his grandfather and left the U.S. training camp in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning to return to his hometown of Sioux City, Iowa.

Team USA was already scheduled to take a five-day break and reconvene Monday in Las Vegas for three practice sessions and an exhibition game against Puerto Rico on Aug. 3.

Before departing Tuesday, Hinrich did speak briefly to a USA Basketball media representative about traveling overseas with the national team.

“I’m just really excited to have an opportunity to represent the country and go after a world championship,” he said. “That’s a big deal. I’m excited to be a part of it. It’s really a huge step in my career, and I’m excited to represent my country.

“It was great to get out here and compete with these guys and get to know them. Slowly we’re becoming a team, and it’s great to see and great to take part in it.”

Some observers felt Hinrich could be let go Tuesday because he missed practice two of the previous three days with a hamstring injury.

Instead, coach Mike Krzyzewski chose not to keep Seattle SuperSonics guard Luke Ridnour or Charlotte Bobcats rookie Adam Morrison. Neither move was a surprise, since Morrison has no NBA experience and Ridnour arguably has the worst credentials of anyone at the camp.

Phoenix Suns forward Shawn Marion also bowed out because of a knee injury.

“We don’t think it’s going to be a serious thing, but it will preclude him from going on the trip,” Krzyzewski said at a news conference.

Besides Hinrich, the rest of the final 15 are Carmelo Anthony (Denver), Gilbert Arenas (Washington), Shane Battier (Houston), Chris Bosh (Toronto), Bruce Bowen (San Antonio), Elton Brand (Los Angeles Clippers), Dwight Howard (Orlando), LeBron James (Cleveland), Antawn Jamison (Washington), Joe Johnson (Atlanta), Brad Miller (Sacramento), Chris Paul (New Orleans), Amare Stoudemire (Phoenix) and Dwyane Wade (Miami).

From that group, a 12-man roster will be submitted just before the World Championships begin on Aug. 19 in Japan. Prior to the main event, the U.S. will play exhibition games against China and Brazil in Guangzhou, China, and against Lithuania and Korea in Seoul, South Korea.

“I think we’ll be the most talented and athletic team over there,” Hinrich said. “We just have to do the best we can of playing as a team and taking advantage of it.”

Hinrich is not a lock to make the final roster, though injuries are likely to sideline more players. Bowen, Battier, Jamison and Stoudemire figure to be the other leading candidates to be cut.

Hinrich originally turned down an invitation to join Team USA, then changed his mind when asked a second time by managing director Jerry Colangelo.

The fourth-year guard is expected to share time at point guard with Paul and Arenas, though James and Wade also figure to handle the ball often. Krzyzewski said this week he likes the fact that he can use both Paul and Hinrich to pressure opposing guards.

“The strength (of the team) has got to be depth and athletic ability,” Krzyzewski said. “The NBA season is a marathon. This is a sprint.”

Everyone on the U.S. roster, including injury scratches such as Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce, made a three-year commitment. So the same group should return next year for Olympic qualifying and then for the 2008 Games in Beijing.

Yes, it says he's had an injury and unfortunately lost his Grandfather, but nothing about him being cut, going home for the summer, or not being there for Japan. No other sites/media have said that yet, either.

I think i found it,

Amare looking good in Team USA camp -- good enough to keep

CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

LAS VEGAS -- Amare Stoudemire is making the U.S. national team's selection process even more difficult than the coaches already expected.
Advertisement The Phoenix Suns star finished six lively days of practice with the American club Monday, playing at full speed in an intense full-court scrimmage with his teammates.
That wouldn't be remarkable -- except Stoudemire had surgery on both knees during last season, and he didn't appear ready for international competition as recently as last week during Phoenix's summer-league sessions in Las Vegas.
But Stoudemire's confidence and conditioning have grown with each day in the U.S. camp, and coach Mike Krzyzewski's staff -- including Mike D'Antoni, his coach in Phoenix -- must decide whether he'll be able to help the American squad at the world championships in Japan next month.
"I think my chances are great," Stoudemire said. "I've been improving each practice, working hard and getting in shape."
Stoudemire played in just three games for the Suns last year after preseason microfracture surgery on his left knee. After that brief return in April, the club shut him down again -- but the wear and tear forced the 2003 NBA Rookie of the Year to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
So Stoudemire launched into an aggressive offseason rehab program -- in between sessions at his basketball camp, Spanish lessons and the impending birth of his second child. He reported to U.S. camp last week in better condition than Krzyzewski imagined, and he feels extra strength every day.
"I'm getting better," he said. "It's pretty hard to put it into percentage form. Right now, I'm a little above 70 (percent), and hopefully I can get to 100 pretty soon."
After Monday's practice and scrimmage, Stoudemire stayed on the court for extra shooting drills with Phoenix assistants Marc Iavaroni and Alvin Gentry.
At full strength, Stoudemire could be a valuable addition to Krzyzewski's roster -- perhaps even an ideal center for the international game. He's strong enough to guard the world's biggest players, but flexible enough to fit into Krzyzewski's vision of a perimeter-oriented offense.
And since he plays for the Suns, his fast-break skills aren't in question.
On Tuesday, Krzyzewski and managing director Jerry Colangelo will trim four players from the 19 currently in the U.S. camp. One of the four will be Detroit guard Chauncey Billups, who's staying home to be with his pregnant wife.
Charlotte rookie Adam Morrison probably will be left home from the club's Asian tour, and Kirk Hinrich's injured hamstring might keep him out as well. A few days ago, Stoudemire seemed likely to be the final player dropped -- but he's making things interesting for Krzyzewski, who won't share his thoughts on the decision.
"There's no magic in 15 (players going to Asia)," he said. "We just don't want to place ourselves in a position where we have to call somebody because we've got injuries. Everybody here has bought into the fact that we're in it for something bigger than any one individual."
Even if Stoudemire doesn't make the cut, he seems certain to play a key role for the Americans in future competition. In all, 25 players have made a three-year commitment to be a part of the U.S. team through the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
"The camaraderie is getting a lot better," Stoudemire said. "Each player is a leader on his own team, so we have 25 leaders."

so i was kinda right, it says his injured hamstring might keep him out, but im pretty sure they're not gonna boot someone whose healthy to keep an injured hinrich...maybe it isnt so serious though and they need his quasi-leadership, and role-playing abilities. i saw it on hoopshype.com as well but i cant find the article.
