Hall of Famer
The "5 game sequence" ended up 3-2 which is very surprising considering what went on in therms of injuries. It could have easyly bee 1-4. We have a very resiliant team that is always good for a surprise like one in Minnesota. The injuries are starting to get a little more concerning but then again we are Knigs and injuries are our "middlename"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
February looks brutal with lots of games away from ARCO. Considering that, the injuries and "back to backs" - this month could be very "telling" when it comes to this team. We will be OK. We will find the way to win most of the games. The health is the primary objective anyways. Knees, ankles, backs, and other body parts have to hold together in order to be succesful in the long run.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight's game is a PAYBACK. We got "murdered" in Seattle when we played them last time. Phisically and on the scoreboard. I am sure that our player did not forget that night and that they plan to respond accordingly. Additionally Sonics lost against Spors last night and did not have Ray Allen in the lineup. We need to stay close on the boards (-5 would be acceptable) and we have to cover the three - that should do it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again - hard to tell who will play and who won't but in case that they all play:

CW - missing more games as the season progresses had to be expected. Fortson is waiting tonight, or Evans - either way it will get physical. Hopefully, with no serious consequences. Nobody can guard Webber on that team anyways - so maybe he could get closer to the basket and reduce the jump shots.

Pedja - had a week of "vacation" and it is about time to get back on the floor. Radmanovic is waiting - whatever that means. Will be fun (for me) to watch that one. Hopefully, his back allows him to be somewhat agressive.

Bibby -defending pick and roll tonight. Still remember him getting abused by Ridenour. Was not a pretty picture. Hopefully, he can put 2 halves like the 2nd half in Minnesota. What is wrong with his FT shooting anyways ?

Mobley - Hopefully, he can play a good first half for a change. Does not have to force too much if CW and Pedja can play

Miller - What else can we ask from this guy. He has been phenomenal for a while now. He just needs to keep it up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bench was really solid over these last 5 games.

Darius - great job filling in for CW. Just needs to stay aggressive.

Martin - little innefective as of late. Not getting many minutes either

Tag - like to see him on Fortson a little bit.

Barnes - should be a reason that Pedja does not have to play 40+ minutes.

"Mateen section" -
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - did a great job dealing with all these injuries. Playing startes heavy minutes - does not have much choice at the moment - hopefully does not go south.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonics are a very dangerous team if they shoot well. If Allen does not play - it will be easier.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go Bucks !
Go Grizzlies !
Go Blazers !

They had the Sonics announcer on 1140 this morning and he said that Ray Allen did not travel with the team to Sacramento. He said that there is a slight chance that Allen could play but that it does not look good.

No updates on Peja or webb.

Ray Allen To Sit Tonight Versus Sacramento 02/01 -
12:56 PM
Seattle SuperSonics guard Ray Allen did not play Monday night in a loss vs. San Antonio due to a viral infection. He will also miss tonight's game vs. the Sacramento Kings.

Allen is averaging 24 points per game this season for the upstart Sonics.

Do we know if WEBBER,PEJA are playing tonite?I have faith in RA,esp after last game.

Haven't heard anything. My guess would be that Webb plays, because it seems that usually a couple days rest works to get him back in action. Pedja is more of a concern, because I don't really know what's up with his back.

^mmm boy did they miss his 24 points too last night...i think if Ray had played the Sonics would have won

this game however can't get any worse than the first game...and thats a good thing...the Sonics are the best offensive rebounding team...and if we all gang rebound and crash the boards like on Sunday afternoon in Minny we should be in good shape...the Spurs knew that and that was really the key to them winning...they got a lot of put backs...but we are home so thats a + but we must not lose sight of that advantage....we gotta pull away with a win tonight especially with the sonics being Ray Allen-less

GO KINGS!!

Hmm... I hate injuries in general, but I have to admit I feel much better seeing that someone from the other team is not able to play, instead of always seeing that another one of the Kings will miss a game.

I actually expect Chris to spend a lot of time outside shooting jumpers tonight. Seattle's "big men" do not want to step more than 2 feet away from the basket, and Chris should be open all night long. Hopefully his hot shooting continues.

I expect Brad to spend a lot of time at the free throw line tonight. He is going to be on a mission against Fortson. And we all know how the NBA works. Brad was just named Western Conference POTW. He'll get a lot of respect from the officials, especially with the mugging Fortson will be trying to dish out.

I would LOVE to see Brad Miller get some respect from the refs. He has been playing great in spite of (IMHO) NOT typically getting the respect from the refs he deserves. Just think what he could do if they respect him.:)

Actually, I would like to have Allen play. I'm not a proponent of playing against beaten up "quality" teams, only to get to the playoffs over-estimated and play a healthy "quality" team which might not be a good thing :\

Last night the Spurs took advantage of what was given to them. They felt no remorse during the game and took it to them the way the Kings should. I've seen this Kings team barely beat a good team with their starters out, and seen them lose to others. I wonder what team we'll see this time? I mean, it took a heckler behind the Kings bench in Minnesota to ignite Bibby for the second half. Do we really need people like that to light a fire under them? I hope not.

Evenstar, that signature, is it something out of LOTR Elven language, or is it straight out of an Enya soundtrack?

I hope Adelman resists the temtation to to try to "match up" with the Sonics and plays Tag for a streach. Tag might just humble Fortson a bit with some old school physical play.

Not that it's cast in stone, but the tentative line-up for tonight's game has BOTH Pedja and Webber listed as starting.

Whooooooooooooo!!!

So no Allen, and I heard that the Sonics coach won't be there either. Kings should be able to take this, I would hope. Lewis will still pose problems, and depends how Radmanovic is shooting.

Lewis was the biggest NON FACTOR ever last night against the Spurs...i thought intially they were just all gonna get on his back and ride...but boy was i wrong...he barely showed up on the stat sheet...and thats DEFINETLY not gonna cut if Ray is out

The announcement is made that Webber is player of the month for January AND it's Kevin's birthday.

I think the planets are aligning for a GOOD night for the KINGS!!!

:D

Up to this point I was joking about you and Jerry Sloan's play book. Now, I would need a swarn statement from both Jerry and yourself to even consider it a possibility that you indeed do not have the book (or its facsimile) in your possesion.

I just hope that RA reads your posts as religously as you read JS' book. :)

I rarely voce my respect and appreciation for Sloan and the Jazz on here beceause I know that a great many of my fellow Kings Fans shre that view. But Yeah, I'll plead guilty to being a supporter of physical play and Jerry Sloan is it's guru. Don't get me wrong I don't approve of dangerous paly or trying to inflict damage, but I belive that part of a good center/forward's job is to make 6 foot gaurds think twice about cutting to the hoop, and definalty forcing them to get their point at the line, not at the rim. Essential a good defneder, say for example Bruce Bowen should play a physical as the reffs will let them and stay right on that line. If you can grab-grab. If you can set a moving screen, go for it. Peopel call Johny Stockton a dirty defender, I call him smart.

Understood and agreed. I had a coach who thought us how to foul cleanly but with enough zing as to make opposing player's shooting hand sting while he is taking free throws. I doubt it made any difference to the shooter (having received same/similar treatment) but it certainly instilled the culture that inflicting temporary flash of pain without permanent damage is OK.

i really thought he'd play tonight...::shrugs::...but he is the only one who knows how he feels

go kings...beat dem sonics
