SAS on Sportscenter-Kings looking to move Bibby...

He was just on Sportscenter and he said that we're looking to move Mike. Also said we want to get younger. Hopefully this is a hint that we're trying to rebuild. Also said that Mike won't opt out.

Hmm...

Well I'm sure SAS is right, this seems a no brainer. We're probably trying to move half the team right now. At least he didn't offer up some Veschey style trade rumor.

And in other news, rumor has it, the sky is blue. the grass is green, and I hate the la**rs.

well, no matter how credible it is, it's something and that's more than what we've been getting recently.

Steven A. Smith loves to just stir up drama and make things seem alot worse than they really are. Anyone watch Quiet Frankly? didnt think so, its a joke and so is Steven A.

LOL. I saw the cameo he had. And all I could think was what a freaking drama-queen.

Here's the link to the streaming video on ESPN.com

Nothing specific; he says the Magic wants to move Grant Hill, the Kings want to move Bibby ... d-oh!

Intriguing on that first bit -- earlier in the year the Magic had said they unequivocably did NOT want to move Hill and his ender. I guess now that they are fading after that fast start they have changed their mind? In any case, once an ender of that size becomes available you have to take a look at it and see if you can use it as a way to liquidate some of your longer term vet contracts for the big ender and then kids/picks. You could conceivably have an offseason where you got a top 5 pick in the draft AND were one of the biggest players in free agency, letting you totally rebuild the squad in one year.

I am REALLY liking the sound of that.

BTW - I heard today that Grant has a knee injury and will miss about 2 weeks.

I like Grant.....always have. I cannot help but think how wonderful he would have been without all his foot/ankle problems. :(

Do you think we could somehow get Grant Hill? Only guy I could see us giving to them is maybe Bibby because the contracts are close. I might see them wanting Mike too because Nelson has been a bit dissapointing. Not sure who else we'd get in a deal though.

Grant Hill is nothing but class. Just like his old man. (one of my all time favorite NFL players)

Time to check Real GM. If we have to give up Mike and smaller role players to get Grant's expiring contract we could have one hell of an off-season. You still have Brad and Ron (and probably Kev) + a top 5 pick and an impact player through free agency. Who knows, losing Mike would certainly help boost our chances of getting a better draft pick. I say do it!

How about this.Sacramento Trade Breakdown Outgoing Mike Bibby6-2 PG from Arizona17.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.4 apg in 36.2 minutes Vitaly Potapenko6-10 C from Wright State0.0 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 5.0 minutes Incoming Grant Hill6-8 SF from Duke15.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31.0 minutes Change in team outlook: -2.3 ppg, +0.2 rpg, and -3.0 apg. Orlando Trade Breakdown Outgoing Grant Hill6-8 SF from Duke15.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31.0 minutes Incoming Mike Bibby6-2 PG from Arizona17.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.4 apg in 36.2 minutes Vitaly Potapenko6-10 C from Wright State0.0 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 5.0 minutes Change in team outlook: +2.3 ppg, -0.2 rpg, and +3.0 apg. Successful Scenario
Why the Kings do it. The Kings who aren't going anywhere this year get a huge expiring contract to build the team of the future through free agency. Why the Magic does it. The Magic now have a "still in his Prime" clutch shooting , playoff tested point guard to lead a young team come playoff time.

that sounds great. maybe package in a few others and get Darko, Reddick, and/or Ariza

oh please no. do not trade mike bibby that would be a huge mistake and the end of me as a kings fan, seriously.

If your a kingsfan, your a fan no matter who comes or goes, unless your just a kingsfan because of one player so when they leave you can too.

I hope MB gets traded and we get going in a direction.

Same here, we need to rebuild and I don't think Mike is a guy who you keep around for that. He's a decent trade chip and he's in his prime now and he's proven he's a 2nd/3rd option rather than a leader.

I'd MUCH prefer to keep Bibby. I would be upset if we traded him, but would still be a King's fan. However, I would NOT trade him for pieces. That concept really has not worked well for us. The only way that I would trade him is if we could get a younger yet talented pg or a player to improve or 4 or 5 spot.
If we are trading for expiring contacts, I would ship off players like Thomas, SAR, or various bench players. The problem then becomes, who would want them?
