Ronnie Price

I just had the chance to watch the 4th quarter tonight which, well, we lost by 15 so there isn't a whole lot to take out of the game.

However, I was real impressed with the defense Price played on Nash. It seemed like Price was able to disturb Nash's rhythm a bit and was also able to stay in front of him. Price's defense seemed to irritate/motivate Nash to try harder even after the game was decided. Anyone else have the same observation?

Yes. Ronnie Price has hustle and heart and he never quits on a play. I'd like to see him start running the offense on occasion and see how well he could learn to distribute the ball... It's interesting that he's one of the few players who already seems to understand the importance of defense and just needs to work on his ball-handling skills.

He's had some nice passes before, specifically in one of those games on the road where we got blown out(either to Atlanta or Cleveland). He's good at creating shots for teammates IMO, atleast from what I've seen of him(admittedly not too much considering Musselhead never plays him).

Even though he ended up with zero assists, I thought he had some really amazing passes in the game. Very tenacious. I'm definitely a Ronnie fan.

Have I mentioned lately how much I detest the idea of sending in the second team piecemeal with no rhyme or reason?

I wouldn't bet on it.

But the resulting loss would be more entertaining. That's a core part of the tank approach -- throw out a team that lacks top level NBA talent, but which will at least try hard. Then you can freely root for them to play as well as they can, knowing that in the end Ronnie Price <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Steve Nash and you have little realistic hope/danger of winning unless the other team just does not take you seriously.

The other amazing thing about Ronnie is that he's such a high flyer for a small guy. On one defensive play he was called for a foul but was so far above the rim I couldn't beleive it. 5 rebounds in 12 minutes last night - he might turn into a solid rebounding guard as well.

See what it has come to? Looking for bright spots in this dreaded season of mediocrity and that's generous.

I do like Ronnie Price and his Bobby Jackson-type energy he brings and would like to see him get more minutes for the rest of the season. Right now he's an average PG at best (will get better with more PT). I hope he is kept and becomes a true backup PG next year for us.

i would like to see price and williams get more minutes now. at the beginning of the season i didnt want to see them because i thought it would hurt our playoff chances. but now that we have one of the worst records in the league they should get minutes to finish the season. thats what i want. thats what we all want. but we wont get it.

He's a guy I want to succeed in a big way because he's such a competitor, he's athletic, and by all accounts, a great guy. But he needs the time on the court. Management should be waving the white flag and saying that they want the coach to play the youngins, but so far it's not happening. I guess we'll see what they do when the Kings are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Even then I'm pretty skeptical about Price getting needed time. Management does not want want to own up to the fact that the only reason for playing now is to get ready for next year.

I agree completely. Can someone explain why both Price and Williams aren't playing at least 15 minutes each game?

Granted, our chances of winning are better with Bibby on the court but at this point, who cares? I think I would enjoy the games more to see our kids play and at least we'd be able to gauge somewhat if they could ever be players.

I'm not claiming Price is a starting caliber point guard nor am I claiming that Williams is the next Ben wallace - but I do think these guys could be solid rotation players given the minutes.

Yeah... I hate to see people still dwelling on our not having been absolutely eliminated from the playoffs. The Clippers, in #8, have been winning 47% of their games, and the remainder of their schedule isn't too bad. We'd have to gain 4 games on them to get there, which would mean going at least 8-5 from here on out, and probably 9-4, but looking at our schedule, even 5-8 seems overoptimistic. Going 3-10 looks a LOT more likely than making the #8 slot.

The remainder of the season is just 624 minutes of garbage time.

The next Kings event I'm looking forward to is finding out which of the talented combo guards we pick up in the draft.

Wednesday, Ray Allen said team doctor Richard Zorn urged him to have the surgery immediately. But Allen was also told he couldn't do any more damage to his ankle if he kept playing.

Allen's getting a second opinion, guess he doesn't share the team doctor's enthusiasm about his missing the rest of the season. Hard to see what the rush is when it won't get any worse, eh?

Sorry I know this is a Price thread and I'll all for developing that guy and the other athletic undrafted guy on our team, JWill2, but.......:

Let's finish the season with playing our youngins and getting a good pick in this year's draft. Try to move Bibby, Artest, K9, Miller in the offseason as a high priority. I like Artest a lot, but he has way too many issues and is a real distraction on and off the court. He also isn't a good fit here and hopefully we can work out a trade with Miami and Bibby to somewhere else like the Cavs if they still want him and can get the package together. It would be so nice to include K9 in a package deal and move on a good plan for our front court next year. I definately want to see Williams get more playing time and develop, he really impressed me with his Defense on one of the best Center/PF out there in Amare last game. They are both very athletic big men, Amare of course has had way more playing time and is polished, where Williams hopefully is only a year or 2 away from become very good for us, maybe now Amare Stoudimire good, but with how bad we are...he sure looks amazing even now!

I also want the youngsters to play, but not to the disrespect of the two veterans we have from the wonderful 90's team. They have given so much to the King's organization and fans, just can't see throwing them away because they're having a bad year. First of all, Miller was not brought in here to be a SHOT BLOCKER! He was brought in because of his passing skills and offensive shooting. (He hasn't had a good shooting year, but his passing skills, screens, pick and rolls, etc. are as good as ever). So I hope that the young ones will share a lot of minutes with some veterans along side for the remainder of the year. Then if the vets are traded, so be it. We really like Ronnie Price and hope he can develop into a good point guard. Right now we wonder how he sees the court when bringing the ball up; what plan does he have? You would think he is getting coaching help with this, but who knows. Just think we have some good talent in the young players on this team. Annie.

and his ball handling has improved greatly i think, it just running and offense and also his confidence that need improving...
