Rockets sputtering...

The Houston Rockets are currently losing to the Milwaukee Bucks, 68-45, in Milwaukee with 9:00 left in the third.

They just mentioned how hard it's going to be for the Rockets to find someone to fill JJ's 31 minutes. I have to admit, this trade really puzzled me...

Uh oh... They just said that David Wesley cannot play tonight because "Jim Jackson has not reported to the Hornets."

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

And something rather telling, IMHO - one broadcaster talks about how JJ was getting and producing in valuable minutes. The other guy mentions how TMac and JJ are essentially fulfilling the same positions. I still smell something rotten in Denmark... and Houston.

;)

And now the score is 77-47...

::VF21 tries to stifle a giggle. And fails, miserably. ::

Mark Jackson told him not to and I guess he took it seriously.

Heheheheheh.

Desmond Mason blows by TMac like he's standing still, makes Yao look like he has tree roots going all the way back to China and goes up for a one-handed dunk that gets the Bradley Center on its feet. And I also let out a nice WHOOOOOO!

Unfortunately, Mason is now on the bench - they speculate he may have hurt himself making the dunk.

And as a reminder - the Bucks have FIVE guys on the IL. Boy, this one has to hurt if you're a Rockets fan...

if they weren't too expensive, i would have thrown my TMac 4 in the trash already.

blown out from a weak leastern team = embarrassing!

There are supposed insiders on Rocket boards saying JJ wouldn't report and is very upset about the trade. Supposedly he's mad enough that he's threaten retirement.

115-87 Bucks

I don't blame JJ... He's having a very good year and actually is one of the few bright spots on the Rockets this year. I have every suspicion he was traded because TMac was unhappy about it.

This has been a pretty good day...snow, the week off, etc. Having Toronto beat the Lakers would certainly put the icing on the cake...

:D

I do; if he considers himself a professional, he should report. Call me jaded, but I don't think that anyone on this board would be so forgiving if Jackson weren't a Kings Fan "favorite."

I'm looking at what I perceive to be possible explanations. If Mr. "I'm gonna sit here and not play" was even partially responsible for JJ being shipped out - which wouldn't surprise me in the least - then I think JJ would have valid grounds for saying he'll retire before going to the Hornets.

To clarify, JJ hasn't actually said anything. It's all speculation. The only truth is that he has not YET reported.

Could you really blame him if he just decided pulling up stakes AGAIN to report to the Hornets simply wasn't how he wanted to end his career? The dude has been all over; he was good here but was let go to give Wallace a chance. He found a niche in Houston and has done well. If he has to go to the Hornets, why bother?

We didn't trace Jackson; he left for more money.

And, I'll ask again: where does that leave David Wesley? Why should he have to suffer just because McGrady is a prick, and Jackson is a surly curmudgeon?

Wesley will be up the proverbial creek, I guess... life isn't fair. Why should Jackson agree to play for a pathetic franchise just so Wesley can move?

Ummm...

Whatever. Jackson MAY be choosing to retire. That's his choice to make and it's something the Rockets should have considered before putting him on the block. YOu know? Maybe a phone call or something?

It's the Rockets who engineered the deal. If it doesn't go through, blame them - not the guy who has been put in the most unenviable position.

Any speculation about Jackson retiring sounds supsect. To me, threatening to retire because you don't want to play for the team you've been traded to is bush league (I feel the same way about Mourning, for the record); I'll bet if he'd been traded to a contender, he wouldn't be threatening to retire, so it just comes as blustery posturing to me.

Or it's entirely fictional. It is only being talked about on a Rockets board and by a couple of broadcasters. Not exactly "from the horse's mouth" so to speak...

Entirely possible; I just suppose, to my point of view, that I have no particular reason to want to give Jackson the benefit of the doubt.

And I, on the other hand, have no particular reason NOT to want to give him that same benefit. Go figure...

;)

I am far more simpathetic with Jimmy Jackson than other players who didn't want to go someplace. His attitude is nowhere near attitudes exhibited by Jason Kidd, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, or Tracy McGrady. He has been shipped all over the place. he's getting older. The prospect of playing your last games at New orleans would be pretty depressing.

What happened to Payton?

there is a BIG difference between refusing to paly and leveraging to get a better deal. we will have to wait and see howthie works out for JJ and all concerned.
